On Tuesday, I had Brian Hobbs engaged to a beautiful young lady by the name of "Ashley."  And I am sure that "Ashley" is a fine young lady and she will make someone one of the best wives going………..However, Brian is engaged to Leslie Norman who is even MORE beautiful than that old "Ashley" and will make a much, much finer wife!!!!  All kidding aside, even though I can't get names straight, we do wish Brian and Leslie ALL the best!!

FOOD OF THE MONTH:  Canned meats (Spam, deviled ham, chicken, etc.)

UNITED METHODIST WOMEN TO EAT!!!!
Here is Betty Jo with the info and the invite!!!!  Al - Can you please put a note in the Church Chat to remind all of the United Methodist Women - and all women of the church - that we will have our Spring Salad Supper on this coming Tuesday (May 13) at 6:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.  All the UMW ladies should bring their favorite salad or whatever they would like to bring - it is always a delicious meal!!  Pastor Chuck Killian will be our guest speaker, along with his lovely wife, Jane.  They will give us an inspiring message on their mission work.  We  will have a short meeting time after our meal so I encourage every UMW lady to come and feel free to invite a friend.   Thanks, Betty Jo.

MYANMAR TRAGEDY

When we see the devastation that a cyclone does to a poor country like Myanmar we ask "What can I do??"  The government of Myanmar is very reluctant to let "outsiders" into their country.

But when they finally come to their senses, the food aid will need to be ready to pour in there.  Pastor Chuck Killian is STILL looking for folks willing to package food items in the "One Million Meals" campaign.  Last I heard NO ONE had contacted Pastor Chuck willing to help package these meals.  The packaging will take place THIS Saturday at Aversboro Baptist Church.  If you would be willing to help, PLEASE give Pastor Chuck a call and he will get you ALL the details!!  Phone 919-538-2855.

VHS/DVD'S/BOOKS NEEDED:

Olde School Commons, in the historic Garner High School on Garner Road, is an apartment complex for low-moderate income seniors age 55 and up.  We have recently converted a commons area into a small lending library for books and videos/DVDs.  We are especially in need of used DVDs and VHS videos, but books would be great, also.  If you have some to donate, you can call me (662-1568) or email me at slh@pobox.com and I'll be glad to come pick them up.  Thanks, Stacie Hagwood
