MEN'S BIBLE CLASS SCHOLARSHIP
The Men's Bible Class is now accepting Scholarship Applications for the 2008-2009 school year. The completed applications must be received by the Men's' Bible Class by Sunday, March 30th. The application forms may be obtained from the church office or from the church website. Thanks, Louis Stevens.
MAYORAL BREAKFAST WILL BE THIS
coming Thursday morning at 7:30 AM. Even though he is retired from his employment at the Postal Service, Mayor Ronnie Williams knows that many of you have to get to work, so he is good about trying to make his annual prayer breakfasts only an hour long. This way folks can still get to work in a timely fashion. Sometime in the course of seeing Mayor Williams in and around town, please thank him for not being afraid to invoke prayer and God in the guidance of we as a community.
WHY AM I NOT SURPRISED
to hear that this church has responded and responded mightily to the "Power of 7" campaign to build a Habitat home in the Garner area. Our church was given 50 tickets to sell before a BBQ event on 26 January.......On Sunday (past) alone there were over 50 tickets sold here in the gathering area in the church!!! Also out in the gathering area is some information on the total community involvement for a 17 May event at Lake Benson. There is going to be crafts, a bake sale, a yard sale, they need individual/groups for live entertainment, there will be a breakfast, lunch and dinner meal.....and other things as well.....There is going to be something that everyone can do to help build a Habitat home in this area!!!! Let's get going!!!
THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!!
Plea made. You Responded. Now thanks are spread all around!!! We asked you folks who upgraded this year at Christmas with your television to think about donating your old TV to the church. You did. We put a plea out for DVD players. You responded. David West came and hooked all these up. On Sunday the children's department had a DVD driven Sunday School
curriculum......all's because of Y - O - U!!!!!!! We put the plea out for cell phones and you know what you did.........Responded mightily to where we have boxed ready to ship over 40 used cell phones. Have only received one bagless vacuum cleaner to add to the church's operation after our plea for these!!! But we say THANKS!! for ALL that has been donated!!!!!
NOW IS THE TIME!!!
Wednesday night (that's tomorrow night!!!) the choir starts back!! If there was any time that you wanted to start fresh and new with the choir....this is it!!!! New Year, new choir director, new times, new direction.........Start now. Start the new year off. You've been holding back long enough. There's room for you!!!
REMEMBER THOSE NEWSPAPER PICTURES!!!
If you see a church member's picture in the paper, please cut it out and bring it to the church!!
We miss those pictures that appear in the N & O (cause we don't subscribe to the N & O at the church). Now we have TWO papers in Garner to look through as well. If you see a member in the paper!!! Cut it out and bring it in!!!!!
STICK A FORK IN IT!!!!!!
The ski trip is all but DONE!!!! The list is full, but a few of these names have not produced the
$25.00 hold (hold my place!! I am going!!!) fee. Therefore a "waiting list" is being generated as we speak!!! If you were planning on going on the ski trip the first weekend of February, PLEASE get with Patricia. Let's make sure that your name is on the list, you have your "hold fee" in place and if need be, you are on a "waiting list," in case someone else backs out!!! This is going to be a GREAT trip!!! Hope you are on the list to go!!!!!!
WELL, I SURE DIDN'T KNOW
about that!!!! Wonder if it's because you have not picked up the latest edition of The ConneXions!!! This monthly newsletter from the church is in the Narthex, on the mirrored piece of furniture in the gathering area and on the JOG welcome table.
Get your copy today and get informed!!!!
IF IT'S YELLOW..........
DON'T let it mellow and I ain't going with the other "color scheme" in this now infamous saying as far it goes with toilet water conservation. I know that Mayor Meeker (Raleigh's mayor, but Garner town buys it's water from Raleigh) is calling on all of us to save water and even BEFORE the mandatory water restrictions went into place the church had already put in place measures to ensure our conservation of God's resources. But please, if you practice the "if's yellow, let it mellow" thing at home.........Atta Boy or Atta Girl. But here at the church we practicing, "red, yellow, black or white...........flush the thing out of sight!!!!!" THANK YOU for your cooperation in this matter.
NEW YEAR!!! GOOD TIME TO REMIND:
Church Chat's purpose is to keep us all connected to one another through prayer and information.
Church Chat is voluntary.......the one doing it and your being on the list.
Want this to be informative, to the point, "no patty caking" zone information.
Church Chat is NOT done on church's time and there is NO cost to the church under any circumstances for Church Chat.
Church Chat is sent from a private account, NOT a church paid for or sponsored account.
Writer of Church Chat ain't the brightest bulb in the socket, so don't expect said writer to remember from week to week to RE-run your CC article/ad. You want your ad/article ran again, tell said writer a DAY AND NO MORE THAN TWO days ahead. Anything over two days, you are taking your article into your own hands.
Along the same lines of "writer not the brightest bulb in the socket," deadlines for articles to go in Church Chat need to be to writer IN ELECTRONIC FORMAT by 10 AM on Tuesdays and I send out Church Chat between 4:30 and 5 AM on Fridays. "Rushed up" or late arriving articles causes said "dim lit bulb in socket writer" to make mistakes......
Just so you will know..................
