KEEPING IT FRESH AND REAL IN
the JOG service!!! Stephanie does an excellent job of changing it up and keeping it moving as far as JOG altar table tops are concerned. To this end, Stephanie is needing some help with worship elements and below is her request: In an attempt to keep thing fresh in the JOG worship service we are making a request for any candle sticks, stands and votive settings that can be used on table tops. Also we are looking for fabric to use for table decorations. Fabric needs to be of some size to be useful so we ask that it be at least 12 inches square. All colors are welcome. Please contact
Stephanie Veren 522-8711 with donations.

IN SPECIAL HONOR...........
Dr. Bill Fike was a good, dedicated member to our church and he helped some
here in our midst that "could no longer help themselves." Being "Dr.
Fike," most of us never knew who these persons were and that Dr. Fike ever
did anything for them. Here is information about his service of remembrance:
A Memorial service for Dr. Bill Fike will be held 2:00PM Sunday, January 27
at JC Raulston Arboretum at NCSU in the York Auditorium, within the Ruby C.

Beginning in 2008 when we are planning for a church wide meal, you will be asked in advance to make a reservation and receive a ticket for you and the exact number of people that will attend. This will then become the count of the dinner and preparation will be made based on that number. If you do not make a reservation and get a ticket you will not be able to just come to the meal.

WHY IN THE WORLD
does the church have to know the "exact" number of folks coming to a meal?????
Should we not plan a meal so that we have enough for EVERYONE??? Is this not what the church should be about????? Yes, having enough food for everyone IS a large consideration to our meal planning here at the church. BUT, also in this equation we must start becoming GOOD STEWARDS of the resources God has bestowed upon us.
Even though VERY LITTLE extra food in the past has been wasted (donations to the Raleigh Rescue Mission AND to our own HOPE ministries, has almost made "food waste" a thing of the past) a more intentional process of food planning has been implemented. If you would like more info on this STEWARDSHIP striving, here is an EXCELLENT link to help you out:

BIBLE BUCKS GALORE!!!!
In an effort to help our children grow spiritually, we have incorporated The Bible Bucks Program in our Sunday school, Children's Church, and Sunday Night Children's Program. Bible Bucks is an incentive program that encourages the children to earn "Bucks" and then spend them in the Bible Bucks Market on the first Sunday of each month. Bucks are earned and received by the children for things such as bringing their Bible to Sunday school, learning their memory verses, and bringing a friend to church. If your child isn't already, please encourage him/her to participate in the Bible Bucks Program. We are also asking for donations such as small prizes and candy for our Bible Bucks Market. If you would like to donate an item(s) for our market, please drop it off with Carlene or by the elevator. Thank you!!!!
CHILDREN'S PROGRAMMING WITH A GOD PURPOSE!!!!!!!
Our Children's Sunday Night Program is kicking off this Sunday night, January 27th from 5:30 - 7:30. Please join us as the children now have the option of choosing from two curriculums: Made for Praise or Made for J.O.Y. We have developed two curriculums so as to meet the spiritual needs of all our children.
Made for Praise is for Little Apostles and Agape Kids who'd like to participate in our spring musical," Acorns to Oaks". The children will learn how to grow the fruit of the Spirit in their lives. Made for J.O.Y. is for all age groups and allows the children to choose from several electives, such as story time, choir, hand chimes, drama, missions, and crafts, as they surf through God's word, come to know Jesus, and develop Be-Attitudes: Be Obedient, Be Kind, Be Forgiving, Be Bold, and Believe. Our weekly memory verses will be reinforced not only through stories and crafts, but with mission activities, games, and science experiments as well. There is much, much, more!!! To find out more please stop by the Children's table in the gathering area on Sunday, contact Carlene Lucas, or just come on out Sunday night at 5:30 in the fellowship hall. Dinner will be provided at 6:00, with a suggested donation of $3 per child.
Volunteers are still needed for the Children's Sunday Night Program, and you don't necessarily have to be a parent to help out. We need craft leaders, Story tellers, drama leaders, walkers, kitchen help, and persons to help with memory games and science experiments. A walker will lead the children from center to center and just help the leaders at each center. Our goal is to have at least two volunteers at each center, so please volunteer to help us not only reach this goal, but to enhance the spiritual development of the children. Please contact Carlene by calling the church office or by calling 779-3654. Thanks, Carlene!!!

SPARTY.........WHAT??????????????????????????
On February 9th from 6-10 PM all children are invited to our SPARTY/BNO, at which time the boys and girls will be reminded through scripture about beauty and self image. The two will be separated in groups, girls in fellowship hall for a SPARTY (SPA ART PARTY) and boys in CLC for a BNO (Boy's Night Out). The girls will have a great time doing their nails and hair while the boys enjoy themselves playing games and basketball. Please plan to bring your kids for a night of fun and laughter and to hear about what the Bible tells us about inner beauty. We also need volunteers to help out with both the boys and girls. If interested, please call Carlene at the church or at home (779-3654).
