FOOD OF THE MONTH:  Peanut Butter and Jelly (not necessarily in the same jar).

CHURCH COUNCIL MEETING
to meet THIS COMING Sunday night at 7:30 PM in The Bible Class.  Please plan to be in attendance for this meeting!!
Thanks!!!

REMINDERS ABOUT THIS COMING SUNDAY:
**Starting Friday, the Junior High Discovery weekend will be meeting the entire weekend here at the church.
**7:15 AM Methodist Men's Fellowship to meet in the church's fellowship hall.
**11 AM Worship hour has the Agape Kids Choir singing and the Children's Hand Chimes chiming!!
**7:30 PM Church Council meeting in The Bible Class.
Hope you can be in attendance!!!

ANOTHER REMINDER THAT NEEDS TO
go out is that this Sunday, in the gathering area, there will be a sign up table to hand out tickets to those persons that sign up for the Youth Mission's after church meal of 09 March.  This meal is a "Pick Two" explosion in which a participant in this meal will be able to pick two items from the three item menu (potato bar, salad bar, deli sandwich).
This will be a DONATION only meal.  Proceeds from this meal fund the upcoming, summer Youth Mission trip to The Refuge. The ticket that you will receive will help in ordering of food so that we do not over order and thus have huge amounts of left over foods.  We thank all of you for your cooperation in making us better stewards of God resources.

AND YET ANOTHER
reminder is the fact that Holy Java will have a Grand RE-Opening this coming Sunday morning!!!!!  New coffees, new syrups, new cups, new sleeves, revamping of Holy Java all the way around!!  In all things we are wishing to reach people with Christ with ALL we do and say at Garner church!!
I would not feel right if I did not give kudos to the new coordinator of Holy Java, Mrs. Stacie Hagwood!!!  Stacie has really jumped on Holy Java with BOTH feet!!!  Stacie along with a very dedicated team of volunteers are really making a showing for Holy Java.  Look for new and innovative things at this location in the coming weeks and months!!!!

HOLY JAVA FLAVOR OF THE WEEK:  Hawaiian Hazelnut

IT'S TIME TO GET UP!!
It's time to get up in the morning!!!!  Come 23 March, Easter Sunday, at 6:30 AM, there will be the traditional Easter Sunrise Service at Lake Benson Park in Garner.  Keynote preacher for this event will be our own Pastor Bob Redmond!!! Come out and be with the community of faith to be the first celebrants of Easter 2008 Garner style!!!!!!!

FOOD OF THE MONTH:  Peanut Butter and Jelly (not necessarily in the same jar).

TWO TIMES IN ONE WEEK........
When a "big wheel," says they are coming to your area, it may cause some people to sorta pay attention....but when a "big wheel," comes to your area TWICE in one week....well, then, that makes more people stand up and take notice.....This past Wednesday morning (at 6 AM!!!... many of our own folks don't even get out at 6 AM for MOF!!!) Mr. Bill Shuler, District President of the United Methodist Men came to "visit" with the Men of Faith.  And turn right around, Brother Shuler will be right back at our fellowship on Sunday morning, at 7:15 AM for the United Methodist Men's breakfast!!  ALL men of the church are invited to attend this time of food and fellowship on Sunday morning!!

DUE TO DISCOVERY WEEKEND....."NO" YOUTH PROGRAMMING THIS SUNDAY NIGHT!!!!

DIFFERENT SIZES, SHAPES, WEIGHTS.....
That pretty much describes a collection of boxes that we keep on hand up here at the church.  If for ANY reason you need some boxes (packing to ship, packing to store, packing to move, etc.) please know that we have boxes for your packing pleasure.  The boxes are located in the "ramp side" of the entrance to the stage (entrance door is near the men's restroom in new building upstairs).  PLEASE feel free to take what boxes you need for what purpose you desire.

TOP 22 AND ELITE 8......
No, I am not talking about the NCAA Men's Basketball brackets, but rather an honor that was bestowed upon our church.  The Raleigh's News and Observer is starting an advertising blitz and this group wanted to identify the top business and top church related websites in the Triangle area.  In so doing, your church's website was picked as one of the top 22 church web sites in the area.  When this advertising team started breaking it down further, Garner church's web site was listed as this team's "Elite 8."(meaning that your church and 7 other churches in the Triangle area had the best websites!!)  WHAT AN HONOR!!!  Donna Petherbridge(church web master) and Martha Liles (one that cracks whip and gets us all going) should be GREATLY commended on getting our website up and running AND more importantly KEEPING it orderly, pertinent and up to date!!!

HOW YOU LOOKING???
With the above article about the web site might it be time that you look over your ministry area on the web site???  Is your info correct??  Is it out dated??  Does it stink??  Is your info the same thing that appeared on there since man first developed a written language??  Do you need to change and revamp??  Is your group even meeting any longer?? If not, should your info be deleted from the website??  Look it over.........If you have additions or deletions or corrections or revamping, send them to Martha and she will get them to Donna for posting on the web!!!!!  The web site is ONLY as good as you allow it to be..........Get cracking!!! (oh wait!!! That's what Martha is supposed to say!!

IF SOMEONE WANTED
to see what real and hardworking church workers looked like, a good place to start would be here:

MADE FOR J.O.Y BE-ATTITUDE ROCKIN' REC!!
Kids please join us this Sunday evening in the fellowship hall at 5:30 for Made for J.O.Y. and Made for Praise.  The Bible stories that we have learned in Made for J.O.Y. the past five weeks will be reinforced through games and science experiments at our Be-Attitude Rockin' Rec.  So please plan to attend for a night of fun!!!  Parents are encouraged to attend as well.

THE GREAT BOOK CHALLENGE
Can you name all of the books (Old & New Testaments) of the Bible?  I offer up a challenge to every child at Garner UMC.  It is the "Great Book Challenge." This offer will be good throughout the entire year. You can try as many times as you like to complete this challenge, but you may complete it only once in each category. To win this challenge you must be able to recite, from memory, all the books of the Bible in order.  There are three categories:  The Old Testament Challenge, The New Testament Challenge, and The Great Book Challenge.  If you complete the challenges, you will receive 10 Bible bucks and a certificate (or ribbon) to show that you were indeed up to the challenge. You will also win a prize that is far more valuable. You see, by studying God's word you are on your way to storing up knowledge and wisdom that will last for eternity.  When you're ready for the challenge just let Carlene know.

BIBLE BUCKS MARKET TO OPEN!!
Bible Bucks Market open in room 222 by the Holy Java at 12:00, and again Sunday night after children's program.

CHILDREN'S WEEKLY TRIVIA QUESTION:
Every week we are going to give the children a trivia question that will be related to their next Sunday School lesson.  They will be given a scripture reference and a set of questions.  Parents may help their child look up the scripture and find the answer.  The answers are to be written and placed in the manila envelope on the Children's Ministry Board each Sunday morning.  Once your answers are received you will receive 2 Bible Bucks.  If you miss the question in Friday's church chat, you can get it from the Children's Ministry Board or the website.

Trivia Question for March 2, 2008

Scripture Reference:  John 2:13-22.

Trivia Question:  How did Jesus reply when he was asked for a sign to show he had the right to disrupt the Temple?  Did they understand what he meant?

CHILDREN'S SUNDAY NIGHT MEAL MENU:  Fish'n Chips

1K FOR 1Kid CAMPAIGN
The Methodist Home for Children has cared for children and families for more than 100 years.  It provides community-based youth homes, foster care, adoption services, substance-abuse services, family based counseling, and childcare throughout North Carolina.  It takes a thousand dollars to complete the care for one child for one year, so in an effort to raise these funds the Methodist Home for Children has developed the "1K for 1 Kid" campaign

In response to this campaign we are offering a mission challenge to all the boys and girls.  We challenge the boys to raise $500 and the girls to also raise $500 to help support a child at the Methodist Home for Children.  The first group to raise $500 will receive an ice cream party.
Here are some of the ways you and your child can help us raise money to help support a child at the Methodist Home for Children:
*Bring Sunday school offering.  The children's Sunday school collection for the next three months will be collected for this cause.
*Attend Sunday school.  The children will visit the adult Sunday school classes once a month for next four months for a "loose change" collection to help them reach their goal.
*Join Us for Vacation Bible School on June 20-22.  The VBS mission offering will go towards our support of a child at the Methodist Home.
* Make a monetary donation.  If you would like to help the children reach their goal of $1000, please make a check payable to Garner UMC marked for Methodist Home for Children.

PUBLIC NUDITY
knew that most of you would not read this article if I headed it up "Children's Ministry Needs Some Help" but knew most of you "slightly off"  folks would open a "public nudity" article FIRST.  And too that end, while I have you, please read the following:    If you are interested in teaching Sunday school please contact Jill Mikulecky.  If interested in leading children's church please contact Carlene Lucas.  Thank you!!

A CHILD NEEDS HELP, MORELAND WANTS
to know if you will help him help this child:
Al,
In your upcoming Church Chats between now and next Friday, could you include something about a fundraiser at McCullers Ruritan that I am helping with? It is for Carter Pepper, who suffers from Fanconi Anemia. He is a 2 -3 year old child, who needs major assistance to fight this disease. Here are two websites with further information about the disease and Carter's fight: http://www.fanconi.org/, and http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/carterpepper.
There will be a spaghetti fundraiser next Friday, March 7,at McCullers Ruritan to help raise money. Plates are $6.00 and include spaghetti, salad and bread.  Thanks, Moreland
