started this morning, a word of gracious thanks.........We knew that it was going to take some large shoes to take Kathy's place in the office, but we did not realize that it was going to take 12-14 shoes to do it!! The chuch office volunteers this week have done one outstanding job!!! MANY THANKS to each of them as they patiently dealt with "doe in head light" staff, multitude of phone calls, walk ins, boo-boos, expected things and the not so expected. You folks have been some of the best!!! Looking forward to the next crop of volunteers in the coming week!!!! Thank you again from the entire church family!!!!!
'Cause there is going to be someone scratching, tapping and peaking in the back glass doors on Monday wanting to get in like a stray cat on a cold's winter night............CHURCH OFFICE CLOSED ON MONDAY IN OBSERVANCE OF JESUS'
no inference to anyone being ignorant or stupid with today's Church Chat, but there sure is a bunch of "reminders."
Just wanted you to know, no one really thinks of any of you as stupid or ignorant........but it sure is a bunch of
reminders today...........
NEED YOUR INPUT.............
A Brother here in the church is trying to help out a situation with Garner Area Ministries and he wanted to solicit your help in trying to run something down for him. "Garner Area Ministries needs help. We have been refusing requests for aid because of the lack of space and turning away donations (of clothing, house hold items, etc., etc., etc.) as a result. Present available space is around 2000 square feet. If we could double the space, most needy requests could be met. Any ideas on where? and how? we could get the additional space???? If you have some ideas, please contact this writer and we will get this info to our "helper." Thanks!!!!!!
"Habitat in the Park??" What do we, as a church team need??
Why can't I find out more info on this??? Is there anyone out there???? Sho'nuff!! Here is the latest on Garner's response to Habitat in the Park:
THEY ARE HERE!!! THEY ARE HERE!!!
Just letting all of you know that May-June editions of "The Upper Room," daily devotional guides are here!!! Get'em while they are hot!!! I know that it seems crazy to be announcing this, this early, but if you don't get here early, these daily devotional guides seem to get gone FASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSST!!!!!
MY BAD!! MY BAD!!
I missed sending the following article out when it came to me and I just found it. Even though it seems late, this is right on the mark:"I would like to thank everyone who had a part in the Discovery weekend. It is a great comfort, as a parent, to know that my child is being raised in a community of faith and has the love and support she needs from other caring adults, older teens, and peers. I know that she will always consider our church her "home." And for Ms. Garrison, I heard that they had "the BEST food this weekend!" Stacie Hagwood.
I KNOW THAT IT IS
just 'cause you skimming over the articles, 'cause I know you don't want ANYONE going hungry....So let's do this one more time and see what happens:
As HOPE Ministry grows and develops, we are turning to a quarterly rotating schedule for meals. Volunteers provide one portion of the meal, once every 3 months, or 4 times a year. Each week we have a main dish, 3 side dishes, bread, drinks, and bottled water to feed 25 to 30. THANKS to the many groups and individuals who have already offered to help. We still need the following:
Main dish (spaghetti, roast beef, meat loaf) NEED 2 MORE VOLUNTEERS
Side dishes (vegetables, casseroles, potatoes, salad, fruit) NEED 12
Bread (2 -3 dozen rolls, garlic bread) NEED 7
Drinks for the meal (2 or 3 2 liter drinks) NEED 7
Case of bottled water (so they can take a bottle with them) NEED 9.
Providers bring food/supplies (clearly labeled) to the downstairs kitchen by 2:00 on Saturday. You are welcome to stay for the fellowship if you wish. Schedules will be provided. To sign up, call Lee Ellen Coffey at 662-0206, or send a message to our special email for HOPE meals (appropriately called
HOPEmeals@yahoo.com). Please let me know if you have questions or need further information.
HOPE stands for Homeless Outreach Providing Encouragement. Think about how you can participate and provide HOPE to some of the least of these. It can be as easy as buying 2 or 3 2 liters of Coke once a quarter! And it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.
FOOD OF THE MONTH: Boxed Mac'n Cheese
OH WAIT!!! THERE WERE
several more things about Relay we wanted to mention on Tuesday, but forgot!!!
**Needed: If you still have your name tag from last year's Relay BBQ event, would you please bring it to the church and place it in the box on the copy room door by this weekend.
Entertain for a Cure:
**Please sign up to showcase your unique talent during the dinner hours of the BBQ dinner.
**I wanted to let you know as you start advertising for drinks in CC, I just came from Wal-Mart and they have 12-pack Pepsi products on sale for 4/$10.00. Thanks!! Jeannie Davenport
GO PACK!!!
There may be a very small part of "the Wolfpack" pride spoken at this event, but I believe that Jesus Christ is going to be glorified when 1983 Wolfpack "Cardiac Pack," championship team member Alvin Battle will be the featured speaker at Methodist Men's Fellowship on 06 April, 2008 at 7:15 AM.
Brother Battle, I am sure will mention Pack Basketball, but I can guarantee that anything besides Jesus Christ is going to take a back seat. Alvin married his college sweet heart, Debbie (who played on Kay Yow's basketball team) and they have been married 19 years and have been blessed with 2 beautiful daughters. Come see and hear the testimony of someone that could choose many things in life to "glory" over but is firmly grounded on the "Solid Rock!!"
GET YOUR TICKETS FOR
the "Night With Sammy," coming up on Thursday, 03 April at 6 PM. A "ticket table" will be set up in the gathering area
on Sunday for you to purchase a ticket. $10 for adults and only $5 for kids. ALL proceeds from this meal go towards the Youth Mission trip this summer to "The Refuge," camp that Sammy is helping get off the ground. This will be a special night of song, testimony and information about the camp from Sammy.
YOUTH REMEMBER!!!

"Q" AIN'T FOR EVERYONE!!"
Jamie Hagwood doesn't like barbecue or barbecued chicken. She doesn't like slaw, either, or potato salad. What is a child to do to help fight cancer when she won't eat what's for sale? Why, have your own fundraiser with the food YOU like, of course! So that's what she's doing. And there won't be the first speck of vinegar, cabbage, or mayonnaise in sight. This is the fundraiser for all the picky 9 year-olds, their exasperated parents and all other "kids at heart." For your donation you get a real hot dog with real processed meats, Kraft macaroni and cheese (when only the powdered cheese will do), applesauce and a chocolate chip cookie. And a drink, of course. Can you come join us? After the JOG service and again after 11am worship on Sunday, April 6, we'll be down in the Fellowship Hall. Kids can trace their hand prints for a poster honoring and remembering friends and family who have fought cancer. All profits go to Garner United Methodist's Relay for Life challenge. For more information or if you wish to help out, contact Jamie or Stacie Hagwood at 662-1568 or email to
slh@pobox.com.
Thanks, Stacie Hagwood.
