DID YOU SEE WHAT I DIDN'T SEE?????
On Sunday morning, between 9:20 and 11 AM, Brother Len McLeod's car (black convertible Sebring) was parked near the Fellowship Hall door. During this short time frame, someone came along and "keyed" his car.  If you have any information on this or if you noticed someone around Len's car during this time, PLEASE give him a call: 779-7440 (h) OR 716-8408.  Thanks!!!  Be in prayer for someone that would feel the need to do something like this, especially at church and especially on Easter Sunday........

OUT OF SPACE
and out of ability to accept many more donations of household goods for the needy.  This is the situation that faces Garner Area Ministries in their current location.  Turning needy people away...
Just don't think that this was what was planned for this vital outreach ministry.  If you know of a place in "THE GARNER AREA,"
(hence GARNER AREA ministries) that this group could move, PLEASE let me know.  They currently rent a 2000 square foot space.  Anyone???????????

Mississippi is calling!! The damage from Katrina is far from gone! College students and adults!!!!!
I will be heading to D'Iberville, Mississippi for the week of May 12-16 to try to get some more families back into their homes before the heat of summer is upon them.  Every trip to D'Iberville has been a new and exciting experience.  I am encouraging our college youth to join the adults on this adventure and shake off the stress of final exams and enjoy the thrill of helping others before you start those summer jobs.  If you are interested in joining the mission please join us in person or by phone (college students out of the area)  on April 2 7PM in the Church Library or call into conference number 877-421-0025 Password 117885.  You can contact Jerry or Terri Leeman at 919 851-8516 or email at leemanj@us.ibm.com if you have any questions. I need to have a deposit from everyone that wants to of $50 by April 2. Total cost of the trip will be between $150 to $200 meals , lodging and transportation.   Hope to meet with you on April 2 bring a friend or two. There is a scholarship fund for college students that want to attend and money is an issue.

on Sunday for you to purchase a ticket.  $10 for adults and only $5 for kids.  Tickets may also be purchased in the church office at other times.  ALL proceeds from this meal go towards the Youth Mission trip this summer to "The Refuge," camp that Sammy is helping get off the ground.  This will be a special night of song, testimony and information about the camp from Sammy.

HOT DOGS!!! GET YOUR HOT DOGS!!!
Hot Dogs for a Cure!  Sunday, April 6th, following worship (both JOG and 11am) you'll be able to get a Kid-Friendly lunch for you and your family down in the Fellowship Hall.  Jamie Hagwood and her friends and family are hosting the lunch to benefit Relay for Life.  For donations, you get a hot dog, Kraft macaroni and cheese, applesauce, a chocolate chip cookie and a drink.  How 'bout them apples(auce)?  And here is the BEST PART: you don't need a ticket!  Just show up.  See you there!  Thanks, Stacie Hagwood.

NOW THAT LOOKS LIKE
a pure rat's nest!!!  And if you are talking about the card board recycling area under the Fellowship Hall steps, you could not be any closer to the truth....HOWEVER, a majority of these boxes (some broken down and some not) will be used by the Relay for Life team on this coming Friday.  One of the jobs of the Relay for Lifers will be to recycle any left over card board on Friday.  Soon it will be "rat's nest" no more.........
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT:
(to dispel church rumors, this class is NOT being hosted due to the rowdiness of Alyce Poole in the Nannie Bryan SS Class)
Teacher Training Workshop
April 29, 2008 @ 7:00
In an effort to address recent discipline concerns from volunteers and parents there will be a teacher training on Classroom Management on April 29, 2008 at 7:00pm.  The workshop will be led by Sue Ellen Nicholson, the Director of Children, Youth, and Young Adult Ministries for the NC Conference.  The training is for Sunday school teachers, children's church volunteers, parents, and anyone who volunteers or is interested in volunteering with the children.
The discussion will be centered on discipline in the classroom.  We will learn creative ideas on how to engage and actively involve each child during class time, how to offer words of encouragement to the children, how to effectively handle a disruptive child, and how to understand why some children may act out.
Our new discipline policy will be discussed as well, which includes expectations for our children, teachers, and parents, methods that will be used to redirect a child, and communication between teachers and parents.  Please join us so that we can effectively communicate our expectations so as to continue to create a loving environment and a positive learning experience for all of our children.  Jesus said, "Let the children come to me and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs", Matthew 19:14.

DO YOU KNOW YOUR BIBLE LIKE A GUMC KID?????
Have you ever watched the game show "Are you Smarter than a 5th Grader"?  Well, based on that concept we have created "Do you know the Bible like a GUMC kid".  We want to see if you know the Bible like our kids here at GUMC.  Any adults who would like to be contestants please contact Carlene Lucas at the church office, at home 779-3654, or email clucas01@msn.com
