DEADLINE EXTENDED!!!
Tomorrow noon is the last date that we can take orders for the "Night with Sammy," when our own Sammy Hudson will be hear to perform some of his "Sammy only" music, give testimony and talk to us about "The Refuge," a camp that he is starting (from the ground up) in Greene County. This camp will serve under privileged kids in Eastern North Carolina. Our youth group has decided to stay "in NC," this year for their summer mission trip and help build "The Refuge." The cost of this meal and "Night with Sammy," is only $10 for adults and $5 for children. ALL proceeds for this event goes DIRECTLY to our youth to off set the cost of this summer trip. Many kids head off to the coast and other "fun" places for the summer, but our kids want to give back........Won't you PLEASE help them???? Even if you can't make it for Sammy's night out, if you are led, think about giving a donation to the Youth for this very worthwhile trip this summer!!!! And as always, thank you for supporting our Youth!!!!!!
THIS YOUNG LADY IS
so concerned about others suffering from cancer, that she came up with an idea to do her own "slant" on fund raising for Relay for Life!!! This young lady is only 9 years old and in the 4th grade...

NOT WHAT MOST NC STATE FANS
wanted this year in men's basketball....And we may hear a very, very small bit about this on this coming Sunday morning, but for the most part I believe that the men of the church will hear something we can "all hang our hats on," and NEVER be disappointed and that is when former NC State stand out, Alvin Battle will be speaking at the Methodist Men's Fellowship Breakfast at 7:15. Alvin was a member of the 1983 NCAA Championship team. Alvin has become a successful man in many aspects of his life and he is a champion for Christ!!!! Come and hear this basketball great talk to the men of the church about the Greatest Man.....EVER!!!!!! This coming Sunday morning 7:15 AM........
WANT TO SEE SOME
hearty eaters??? If seeing food consumed in large quantities makes you as a cook feel good, then you need to help participate in providing some aspect (if you don't want to supply the entire meal) of the meal for HOPE Ministries (our church's response to homelessness in the Garner area). This ministry serves EACH AND EVERY Saturday, so you can jump in at any time..... I am telling you, these folks would even eat my mamma's meat loaf!!! These dear souls in the HOPE Ministries are very appreciative of ANY thing prepared for them and just like having a hot, "with loving hands," prepared meals. Can't you make something?? Can't you put some snap beans in with some chicken broth and heat them?? Can't you make some baked spaghetti?? Can't you buy a case of bottle water from Food Lion or Lowe's????? If you can do at least one of these (or maybe one of your world famous recipes) PLEASE let Lee Ellen know so she can put you down to help this most vital and one of our "on the fringe" ministries!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MEN FOR HOPE
Wanted to let everyone know the sign-up sheet for HOPE is back up in the hallway (on the bulletin board outside of Patricia's office). You can sign up for the van just like before and now for the other activities too, which are all simple stuff. Remember, being present to sit, eat and talk is a big help. We need 3 men each weekend and you can help in any way you can and want to. Some of you have asked about the sheet and wanted to let you know. Thanks, Joe Koon.
WHAT ABOUT THE SIGN UP
sheet for HOPE?? Can I look at the sign up sheet and see where I might be able to help out??? You sure can!!! Here you go:

SPRC DOES IT UP NICE!!!
Some very good eats, beautifully decorated, lovingly prepared...these are all terms that could be attached to the reception that the SPRC Committee put on for "got another job," Kathy Roth on Sunday afternoon. Many well wishers came by to offer thanks and say "good bye," to Kathy. Well, not really saying "good bye," as in "seeeeeeeeee ya!!" For Kathy will still be attending church here, she just won't be working in the office any longer.......Good luck to you Kathy and thank you for your service to the church!!!
NEED TO LET CARLENE
know about this one, 'cause we need to have numbers at this one, or we can't have this one..............
Teacher Training Workshop April 29, 2008 @ 7:00
In an effort to address recent discipline concerns from volunteers and parents there will be a teacher training on Classroom Management on April 29, 2008 at 7:00pm. The workshop will be led by Sue Ellen Nicholson, the Director of Children, Youth, and Young Adult Ministries for the NC Conference. The training is for Sunday school teachers, children's church volunteers, parents, and anyone who volunteers or is interested in volunteering with the children.
The discussion will be centered on discipline in the classroom. We will learn creative ideas on how to engage and actively involve each child during class time, how to offer words of encouragement to the children, how to effectively handle a disruptive child, and how to understand why some children may act out. Our new discipline policy will be discussed as well, which includes expectations for our children, teachers, and parents, methods that will be used to redirect a child, and communication between teachers and parents. Please join us so that we can effectively communicate our expectations so as to continue to create a loving environment and a positive learning experience for all of our children. Jesus said, "Let the children come to me and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs", Matthew 19:14.
