9 YEAR OLD CHILD COMES

cancer. Can we as a church body not step up and help AND support this "Young'un for a Cure!!!" Here goes: Hot Dogs for a Cure! Sunday, April 6th (THAT'S THIS SUNDAY!!!) following worship (both JOG and 11am) you'll be able to get a Kid-Friendly lunch for you and your family down in the Fellowship Hall. Jamie Hagwood and her friends and family are hosting the lunch to benefit Relay for Life. For donations, you get a hot dog, Kraft macaroni and cheese, applesauce, a chocolate chip cookie and a drink. How 'bout them apples(auce)? And here is the BEST PART: you don't need a ticket! Just show up. See you there! Thanks, Stacie Hagwood.

children's gifts and talents to be on displayed for the King of kings and Lord of lords!!!!!
THIS AIN'T JUST A GUMC THANG....
Be reminded that if you have a lady in your office or neighborhood that is in need of good Biblical teaching, this is for them as well. We got good things going on at GUMC and we DO NOT need to put them under a bushel basket!! Here's Gayle: On April 14 the Tuesday night Bible Study Group will move to Monday night and begin a six week study by Kay Arthur. The title is Lord, Teach Me to Pray: Practicing a Powerful Pattern of Prayer. The discipleship study helps women grow in a love for God's Word and in a desire to communicate with Him through prayer. Learn what the Lord's Prayer teaches us about effective prayer and how to put into practice its timeless principles. This dynamic study will include sharing answers to prayer and practicing prayer in a supportive small-group setting.

FINALLY!! FOLKS ARE STARTING
to get the message!!! Here's Lee Ellen with some of the responses she has received so far: HOPE NEEDS (One more time): thanks to those who have responded to earlier e-mail requests and of course thanks to those already on the rotating schedule. We still need a few more HOPE providers....
Main dish (spaghetti, roast beef) ALL SET!!
Side dishes (vegetables, casseroles, potatoes, salad, fruit) NEED 7 VOLUNTEERS
Bread (2 -3 dozen rolls, garlic bread) NEED 3 DONORS
Drinks for the meal (2 or 3 2 liter drinks) NEED 5 SUPPLIERS

To volunteer, call Lee Ellen Coffey at 662-0206, or send a message to
HOPEmeals@yahoo.com. Schedules will be provided. Please let me know if you have questions or need further information. Thanks so much!

CONVENTIONAL THINKING
has it that when someone sees a "man," they are less apt to be as aggressive or less apt to be doing wrong things etc. But here at Garner church I would put some of you gals up against most men any day of the week!!!! However, Brother Joe is seeking "a few good men," and to that end, here he is: Wanted to let everyone know the sign-up sheet for HOPE is back up in the hallway (on the bulletin board outside of Patricia's office). You can sign up for the van just like before and now for the other activities too, which are all simple stuff. Remember, being present to sit, eat and talk is a big help. We need 3 men each weekend and you can help in any way you can and want to. Some of you have asked about the sheet and wanted to let you know. Thanks, Joe Koon.

Youth, young at heart, middle age, mature, it don't matter we want, need and just simply got to have you helping us to make this a true success!!! WHERE?? WHAT?? WHEN??? HOW??? WHY????
During this transition period of Office Manager's please be advised of several things. The day that checks are written at the church are on: THURSDAYS. So get your pay requests in BEFORE Thursday at the end of the business day for these checks to go out on the following Monday (at the latest)
HOW DO I GET SOMETHING on the church's calendar??? Not a problem there, either. Simply shoot Martha an e-mail at this address to have this done:
martha.liles@garnerumc.org (or you may call the church and leave a message on Martha's voice mail if she is not there) One last tid bit of info that we ALL need to be mindful of, is that with the paying of bills, writing of checks, posting things on the church's calendar, answering the phones at the church, taking messages, coming in and making sure the office continues in some fashion is ALL DONE BY VOLUNTEERS!!!!! Please be mindful of this fact....we are thanking you in advance for your patience.
HOW MANY IS LEGAL????
Per orders from the Building Code Administrator for the Town of Garner, our Fellowship Hall downstairs has been rated for occupancy for the following: Standing persons (this is with NO tables and NO chairs) we can have 275 people in this room safely. WITH TABLES AND CHAIRS we can legally have 120 persons in this room. Please think of these numbers next time you are deciding if your event is too large for the Fellowship Hall and needs to move to the gym upstairs.
I KNOW YOU ARE GOING TO BE SHOCKED......
but look which group "has" signed up to help our children out on this event and look at which group is "lagging:" Do you know the Bible like a GUMC kid? If you think so, then please sign up as a contestant by contacting Carlene Lucas by calling the church office or emailing
clucas01@msn.com We have several women who have stepped up for the challenge, and would like to have several male contestants as well.
CARLENE HAS GREAT FAITH!!!

Please contact Carlene Lucas at the church office if interested.
