CHURCH CHAT

Church Chat April 8, 2008

FROM THE FILE, "DID YOU DO IT???"
"No, I thought you did it........."  The Trustee's wanted to have a DUAL day Spring Clean Up day but it has failed to get these dates out to the masses.  Sooooooooooooooo  on that note the Board of Trustee's would like to get this info out to ANY and ALL of you that would be willing to help your church out, by participating in this TWO DAY event.

FIRST SPRING CLEAN UP DATE will be THIS Saturday starting at around 8 to 8:30 AM.  This day we concentrate with ONLY the inside of the church.  So, think about it.....is there something in your Sunday School class that you wanted to clean/discard, but couldn't do it by yourself??
Was there some area of the inside of the church that you see as being dirty and have always wanted to correct this but needed help to do it???  Come on down!!!!!  The church will provide
some cleaning supplies and rags and the like, but we also know that many of you have your own
"tried and true" products you like to use as well.....Bring'em!!!!!  SIDE BAR:  A couple of people could not be here this Saturday, but wanted to clean an area, so everyone be advised that when you get here on Saturday, the CHOIR LOFT will have already been done to completion as far as cleaning is concerned.

SECOND PHASE (2nd Day) OF SPRING CLEAN UP will be on 19 April, starting at 8-8:30 AM
and this day the concentrated efforts will be for the OUTSIDE or GROUNDS KEEPING of the church.  The Trustees are scheduling in THREE (3) truck loads of mulch that will need to be distributed in the natural areas/shrub/flower beds of the church.  On this day we will need folks with garden rakes, wheel barrows, manure forks, pitch forks, etc. to help spread and put out mulch.  Gas powered blowers to help clean up walk areas and parking lots that have been spatterd with "mulch droppings."  There will be other things we can do outside as well............

COOKIE" NEEDED!!!!

Calling all cooks!!!  The Katrina Mission team in D'Iberville, MS will be working May 12-16 is going to come back every night hungry!!!  And right now they will starve because there is no one in the kitchen.  We have a great crew of workers, including about eight college students.   There will be two other churches sharing the space, Arkansas and Apex, and maybe we could beg to have them cook for us but I am sure with all the great cooks we have they would be thrilled to have us bring one or two people to help keep the troops from starving.  Katrina missions are a great experience you will get to meet people from other areas and help those in need that are still suffering after Katrina.  If you are interested and by the way Thursday night I will be cooking seafood for you, please call Jerry Leeman  851-8516 or rleeman1@nc.rr.com   Thanks!! Jerry Leeman

REMINDER!!
Little Apostle Choir to sing THIS SUNDAY in worship.  Brother Steve Wheltle will go to the Little Apostle Choir members SS classroom around 10 AM, escort this group of singers to the sanctuary to practice and go over their piece.  Thanks!!!

WHAT CAN ONE LITTLE

nine year old young lady really do to help fight cancer??

Couple her with good people like ya'll and here is what she can do: "I would like to thank everyone who helped make the Hot Dog dinner and all the people who donated money to Relay for Life.  I would like to say that we raised $472!  It was a wonderful experience to help the people with cancer."  Jamie Hagwood

THANK YOU……..

Thank you all so much for your generosity and for the reception on March 30th.  I was truly touched and had a lovely time being able to visit with so many truly wonderful people.  Thank you for allowing me to serve Garner UMC!  A special thank you to all of you who took time to set up and prepare such delicious treats for the reception.  It was very much appreciated. - Kathleen

LOOSE CHANGE TO SUPPORT A CHILD!!!

The 4th and 5th graders will go around to the adult Sunday school classes this Sunday at 9:50 to collect "loose change" in an effort to raise money to help support a child at the Methodist Home for Children.

ANIMAL LOVERS.....ACTIVATE!!!!
One of the groups that uses our church (well, this group only uses our parking lot to park their mobile low income assistance, pet surgery unit) has a "wish list" of items that they are almost always in need.  This group will be back to our fair shores on 22 April. I was wondering if there were some of you animal lovers that would like to help out the SNAP-NC group (http://www.snap-nc.org/).  If you would be willing to help this group with some/any of the things listed below PLEASE put your donations by the elevator or in the copier room BUT CLEARLY MARK "SNAP" on the donated item so we will know where this item goes.  If led, here is the list:
