TOMORROW IS THE BIG

Board of Trustees outdoor Spring clean up day!!!  Shovels, pitch forks, manure forks, gas powered blowers, gas powered edgers, weed eaters, are just some of the tools that will be needed.  THREE dump truck loads of mulch are to be here by Saturday morning, so wheelbarrows are also a "tool of the day."   What else?????  Don't know, really, so bring it and if you don't use it you can always take it back home!!!  Hope to see you around

8-8:30 ish!!!!!!!  Only working till around noon….or earlier if we get it all done!!!!!!!

FOOD OF THE MONTH:  Boxed Cereal

WOOD BROTHERS RACING AND PIT CREW

Are currently not employed here at our church.  And so, it is for that reason that over a year ago the Board of Trustee's initiated a directive that if your group uses the church van, then your group needs to gas the van back up TO AT LEAST the way your group found it.  If you are a church ministry sponsored group, the church will help defray the cost of fuel as well.  I mean really, the church pays the insurance, the maintenance, offers the van to ALL ministry groups in the church and the only thing that is asked is: "If your group uses it, fill it!!"  If your group will turn in receipts or get the church's credit card then it will cost your group practically NOTHING to use the church van………After all that, is it too much to ask that fuel be placed back in it????????

NO TRINKET ZONE……….

Now that my mom is getting older, she has told my sibling and I that she is thankful for all that she gets for Christmas/Mother's Day, etc., but she does not want any more "trinkets" or "knick knacks" that she has to move to dust. So we have gone practical on her.  Now she receives gift cards to K & S or subscriptions to her newspaper.  AND ONE OF HER MOST FAVORITE GIFTS to receive is an AutoBell car wash ticket from Garner Methodist Youth!!!!  How 'bout your mom???  Think she's tired of the "trinkets," as well, but is less blunt than my mom????  Mother's Day is fast approaching and what a great practical gift for mom and help the youth out ALL at the same time!!!!!!

FORMER/PRESENT STEPHEN MINISTERS…….

If you have been in the past or are currently a Stephen Minister, would you consider offering your services???  On Wednesday Pastor Bob went to a Triangle Chapter of the American Red Cross meeting in which the ONLY invited guests were people's of faith.  In the coming weeks we are going to be getting out a list of "job listings," that will need to be filled in the event we open a disaster shelter here at Garner church.  With any disaster, people really reach out in desperation and trained listeners and counselors are

DESPERATELY needed.  Stephen Ministers will you stand with us??

How about Registered Nurses in our congregation???  Professional counselors??  Food service people (not just cooks, but people that would be willing to help make plates to feed the displaced people??).  How about people that will come and help set up cots and put blankets out, put pillows out???  SERIOUSLY be in prayer about where God would have you stand in the event we opened a mass disaster shelter here at Garner church……on the front line or on the side line????

CHURCH BAY:

YOU'RE INVITED!!!!!

Neuse Little Theatre will be presenting Foxfire at THE HUT on the corner of Market and Front Streets in Smithfield May 9, 10, 16-17 at 8 pm and May 11th at 3 pm. This would make a great Mother's Day show as the show's star is a mother dealing with the changes in her life from what it used to be. Here is a summery of the story.

"Annie Nations, an indomitable Appalachian widow of 79, lives on her mountain farm with the acerbic ghost of her husband Hector. Her tranquility is threatened by a brash real estate developer who wants to turn her land into a vacation resort and by concern over her son Dillard, a country singer who has come home with two stranded children because his wife has run away. Annie's battle to decide her future takes her through some funny, touching and magical flashbacks to her life with Hector. Played on Broadway by Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy, this couple offers a staunchly affirmative tribute to country folk. Dillard, still singing the music which used to infuriate his father, has an exuberant scene in which the audience becomes his public at a fairground concert. Can Dillard woo his mother away from the recalcitrant ghost? Will development swallow up the family farm? Only Annie can decide.

Come and enjoy a lovely story with some Bluegrass Music thrown in the pot."  Come on out, ya'll hear......Stephanie Veren
