Wanda's first OFFICIAL day of coming on board will be THIS coming Monday 05 May!!!! Please continue to be your kind, gentile selves until such time as Wanda gets the hang of things here. POWER OF SEVEN MINITRIES
Will really start hitting their event with advertising now that Relay is over……Below I am going to post a link where you can go and get ALL the info that you need (at the moment) for Habitat in the Park. HOWEVER, I have already heard from some of the organizers of our church's response to this need for a Habitat house in Garner. And the plea is for BOTTLED WATER to sell at the 17 May event at the park……sooooooooo….that's where you come in!!! We need cases of bottled water whenever you want to start bringing them!!! Copier room or place them under the wooden table in room 221. Now, here's the link: http://www.garnerumc.org/events/powerofseven.html
GOING ONCE…GOING TWICE…..GONE!!!!!!
In case you were wondering about the 2008 version of the great Auction we had last year, the decision was made earlier this spring that we would not have an auction this year due to GUMC efforts concentrating on Habitat at the Park. The auction had been tentatively calendared for May 3 and some folks were aware of this. BUT THERE WILL BE NO AUCTION THIS YEAR AT GARNER CHURCH. However, if you still in the auction mood…There will be an auction in conjunction with Power of 7 Habitat for Humanity. Link is above. Just wanted to clarify this for everyone. Thanks, Martha.
AND THE WINNING TIME GOES TO…………
When you are doing something like a "Race for Grace," there were really no losers!!!!!!! And we would like to thank three from our church who helped participate in this year's Race of Grace. Here's Martha with more: Our thanks to Kathy Curtis, Carol Hunter and Cathy Roth for representing GUMC at the Raleigh District's annual Race of Grace on April 27. This year's 5K walk/run benefits WIHN, Haven House and Safe Space. Maybe more of you can participate in this event next year?? Martha.

"I WAS WITHOUT SHELTER
and you helped me set up my own place……" Well, Scripture doesn't exactly say that, but if Christ were here in the flesh today, I wonder if that is another one of the "I was without…" things He would proclaim???? Brother Joe Koon is working with one of our HOPE ministry folks, who decided that he wanted off the streets in his own place. This Brother is there now!!!! He has a place, but needs a few things…..Here's Joe with more specific things:
One of our homeless has managed to get him a place to live and is making a home! He needs a few items:
- Top of his list is a washer. Has a dryer already.
- Bed and springs. Queen or Twin.
Other things welcomed too. He's living in a mobile home. Has some furniture but not a lot. Reminded me of a college student trying to get his place set up. So anything along those lines would be great I'm sure. Please give me a call or email if you have one of these. I have a truck and can come pick it up. Thanks, Joe. (cell) 946-8347 (home) 832-7854 joe_koon@agilent.com Thanks, Joe Koon.

It was a huge success. Money is still being counted, and as of right now, Garner United Methodist has turned in $21,292.50. The winner of the "Best Legs Contest" was our Sexton, Al Sutton. Following at a close second place was none other than Pastor Bob Redmond. We really appreciate all you did to help.
