HOPE MINISTRY TO SHUT DOWN
Due to there being no more homelessness in our area……….I don't think so…….Read this from Brother Len McLeod:
The biggest blessing HOPE Ministry could receive would be that nobody needed it. However, this past weekend, HOPE helped 24 homeless friends. That is the largest number we have had on any Saturday to date. As the economy worsens and word circulates that Garner United Methodist Church is here to help, this ministry will continue to grow.
HOPE offers the less fortunate good meals and hot showers, but also tries to make sure they have things, such as:
A one man tent
A good pair of shoes
Adequate clothing
Bug Spray
Toilet paper
It is amazing to see the blessings that abound from this ministry. Several are working to get off the "street", some are attending church on Sundays, and the volume of folks volunteering continues to increase. The biggest blessings are being bestowed on the hearts of those that are helping with this ministry in some way.
Providing adequate assistance requires financial support, as well as, donations of items. I am calling out for all to pray for HOPE ministry. If you are financially blessed and prayerfully led, please make a specific donation to HOPE ministries. If you would like more information, please contact Len McLeod @ LMcDaddy@nc.rr.com or 779-7440.
11 AM WORSHIPPERS YOUR
services are NEEDED!! It is getting harder and harder and harder to recruit persons willing to usher on Sunday mornings. This causes added burden because the ones that will usher are used constantly. Is there ANY adult (16 years of age or older), male or female, that attends the 11 AM worship service that would be willing to usher?? This is an important task that needs good, friendly, people to step up and help out. Don't wait to be called on Saturday night around 9:20 PM…..PLEASE call Ronald Williams TODAY at 422-7070 and let him know that you stand with the church in her need for 11 AM ushers…..PLEASE!!!!!!!

SHE'S HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Many of us have known our new church Office Manager for years, but now we get to know Wanda Hudson in a brand new light!!!!!!
Just remember if you come in and do something that you have been doing since Moby Dick was a tadpole and Wanda looks at you with that "doe in headlights" stare, Wanda don't know!!!!
Wanda is sharp however. She already has "skills." She has been in church office manager positions for years. She has already mastered several things here at Garner's church. She will catch on quickly. Let's all be patient and soon Wanda will be doing rings around us!!!!!!!!!!
HAVE THE OFFICE MANAGER'S
Hours changed????? No, Wanda will be keeping the same office hours that have been in place for about 5 years (at least) now. Wanda's office hours are 9 AM till 5 PM (she got here today at 8:10.....) She is Wanda the worshipper. Wanda the rank and file member.
Wanda at church with her family. If you have church business with Wanda the Office Manager, PLEASE see the Office Manager's hours above. ANY and ALL consideration to letting Wanda be Wanda on Sundays will be so appreciated.
WHAT A DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Many, many thanks go out to EVERYONE who helped make the Made for Praise kids' production of "Acorns to Oaks" such a wonderful success last Sunday! You're all just great folks and your support and assistance is so much appreciated. All parents are asked to return the "Acorns to Oaks" scripts to Carol Wheltle as soon as possible.

08 JUNE, 9:50 AM TILL 10:30 AM CHURCH
fellowship hall will be the location for…..Let me just let Carlene go on and give you the down low on this: Helen Little, a Clayton resident, has been called to serve the impoverished children in Haiti. Her mission includes raising funds to provide clothing and food, cover school expenses, and provide college tuition to Haitian children. She has founded an orphanage, "The Ryan Epps Home for Haitian Children" and she has raised money to build seven schools, four wells, and a church for the Haitian children.
We are privileged to announce that Mrs. Little will be at Garner UMC to speak during the Sunday school hour on June 8th in the fellowship hall. We are asking individuals and Sunday school classes to please plan to attend as Mrs. Little tells us about the children in Haiti, her mission trips there, and ways we can get involved.
If you feel led to get involved in Mission Haiti, you may do so by making monetary donations or by donating items such as powdered milk, tang, canned meats, sun dresses for girls (sizes 2-12), shorts for boys (sizes 2-12), fabric for dresses and shorts, and children's shoes. Items may be dropped off in the missions box by the elevator. If making monetary donations, please mark your check for Helen Little. Please contact Martha Wiseman if you are interested in sewing dresses or shorts for the girls and boys. To find out more about Mrs. Little stop by the missions board located by the Library or visit http://www.newsobserver.com/print/friday/life/story/1016108.html
"I DIDN'T KNOW….."
Well why didn't you?? There are so many GREAT things going on up here at your church!!! We have several ways of getting the word out about these things. The ConneXion (monthly newsletter). ALL articles HAVE to be submitted BEFORE the 15th of the month to go into the ConneXion. Then there are the bulletin boards at the church (four of them, one in Holy Java, one rolling one in the gathering area, one by the church office and one in the fellowship hall near the entrance). The web site is an EXCELLENT resource for finding out things going on at the church. If you don't use the church's web site, you are in the dark on somethings. Then there is Church Chat. So presented here are four resources for things going on at the church. So if you don't know what is going on, where might the problem be?????
