SO MANY WOMEN………..

Not enough space!!!!  So for that reason Gayle Hines has opened up YET ANOTHER time slot to serve all the women wishing to study God's Holy Word.  Here's Gayle:  Demand has been great enough that we can offer TWO (2) sessions of "Stepping Up—Psalms of Ascent"

(http://www.lifewaystores.com/lwstore/product.asp?isbn=005091397 ) It is another Beth Moore study focusing on Psalms 120-134.  These 15 psalms model how study participants can voice their own petitions and praises to our God who is always available and ready to hear us.  The study explores the background of each psalm and psalmist, the majority of which were written by David.  The book will cost about $18.  Please contact Gayle Hines at gfhines@bellsouth.net  or 772-2383 by Sunday May 25 if you want to attend.  The sessions will begin Monday night, June 2, 6:30-8:00.  It is a seven week study which will end on July 9.  Your book will be available at the first session. 

 

DUE TO THE BUDGETARY
situation that we find our selves in here at the church, the Board of Trustees has initiated the policy of upping ALL air conditioning set points up TWO degrees over last year.  Please make a note of this as you dress for church, as it may be a tad bit warmer here than usual.  There are other ways that we can help as well…..CUT OFF THE LIGHTS!!!  Most every morning (after church on Sunday, after Sunday night programs) lights are found on in the building and no one is in the building.  Simply cutting off lights as you leave a room will help with the power bill.  PUTTING GAS BACK in vehicles after use is another way to help out.  Any efforts to help us out over this hump will be great!!!

 

HOPE MINISTRY SHOUT OUT:

Also would you please give a special thank you to all of the folks that show up every Saturday to help with project HOPE.  Without them it would be very hard to have such a special and meaningful ministry here at our church.  Everyday we are helping to change someone's life even though it may be just a little at a time, but thank you to all who provide food, drinks and clothes and any items that are needed to help this ministry work.  You are all a blessing and angels from God.  Thank you all!!!  Jeannie Ledford. 

 

BAKE SALE ITEMS NEEDED:

Habitat in the Park needs baked items for the Bake Sale booth on Saturday, May 17. There is a need for whole cakes, pies, and breads, as well as individually wrapped desserts (cookies, brownies, rice krispie treats, cupcakes, etc.). I do not yet know about our ability to keep items cold, so I am discouraging refrigerated items at this time. Please label your items so we will know what they are, and indicate any special dietary notes (has nuts, made with Splenda, etc). Also, you will need to package your goodies in containers that do not need to be returned to you. You may drop your items off at the CLC kitchen on Friday, May 16 between the hours of 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. You may also drop off items at the park on Saturday morning or contact Terri Leeman at 851-8516 to arrange a pick-up time prior to Saturday morning. Thanks in advance for your support of the Habitat project!

GOD'S LITTLE READERS:

The Precious Prophets (Pre-K's) are invited to join our book club, "God's Little Readers" on May 31st from 10:00– 11:00 to meet Millie our book worm and listen to the story, "Mad Maddie Maxwell".

 

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!!! BIBLE JEOPARDY!!!

We need Agape Kids (3rd – 5th graders) and Little Apostles (K – 2nd graders) to play in our Bible Jeopardy on June 7th.  We've changed the Jeopardy rules just a little. We will split the kids into two teams per age group.  The two teams in each age group will then play to see who can give the correct "questions".  All are invited to come out and either participate or just watch.  It'll be a night of fun.

 

 

PARENT-TEACHER INFORMATIONAL MEETING/LUNCHEON:

We urge all parents and teachers to join us on June 1st for lunch and an information meeting on our Children's Ministry.  We'll serve lunch then dismiss the children as we discuss classroom expectations, safe sanctuaries, and our discipline policy.  This will also be a great time for parents and teachers to get to know each other.

 

FAMILY PICNIC PLANNED!!!!!

Please join us at Lake Benson Park on June 8th from 5:30 – 7:00 for food, fun, and fellowship.  We will serve hot dogs and drinks, and are asking parents to please bring a covered dish. 

 

KID'S DAY AT THE FOOD BANK:

All children ages 5 and up are invited to join us for Kid's Day at the Food Bank.  The kid's will be taken on a tour of the warehouse and then work on an age appropriate project.  If your child would like to participate or you would like to chaperone, please contact Carlene by calling the church office at 772-2042 or emailing carlene.lucas@garnerumc.org

 

 

 

WOMEN:  CAN YOU HELP???

WHERE THAT BEAUTIFUL MULCH??

On the day we were spreading the church mulch and many times since, folks have been wanting to know "where'cha get that mulch??  It is so good looking!!"  Brother Tim Baker can get you ALL you want and then some.  Tim has sand (white, yellow, golf course and playground sand).  Tim also has colored, double and triple shredded mulch (like you see around the church).  Tim has pine straw he can deliver as well.  Hey, but wait!!  Need the small trees and brush cleared from the area before you put down all this mulch, sand or pine straw???  Tim can clean up lots as well AND haul the mess away!!!!!  Tim has gravel (of different types) he can haul as well.  Need some fill dirt after the recent rains have made "ruts" in your property???  You know who can haul the fill dirt to your property???  You got it……..Tim's the BOMB!!!!  The thing I like about Tim coming is that we all know Tim and Tim is going to do us RIGHT!!!!!   So, if you need gravel, top soil, mulch, pine straw, sand, etc., etc., please give Tim Baker a call at:  919- 427-1885.
