VBS REGISTRATION IS ON!!!!!

Please pre-register by June 1st.  Registration forms for VBS (children ages 3 to 5th grade), the Jr. High Bible Study, or the Adult Bible Study are in the Gathering Area or can be downloaded from the church website.  We need good numbers for ordering supplies and for meals.  We also need adult volunteers for help with the weekend's activities.  Please contact us if you can be a Crew leader, Craft helper, Bible story teller, or even a puppeteer.

'DA MAN CAVE IS NO MORE!!!!!!

Some of you will remember that when Brother Steve Wheltle came to our fair shores to share an office with the janitor, the office was transposed and renamed "' Da Man Cave!!"  But all this changed last week……and for good measure as well!!!  The church is truly blessed and honored to have Miss Lucy Turner as the summer's

Music department's internist.  Lucy will be attending Vanderbilt University in the fall.  Many of you already have come to know and admire Lucy as The Garner Sinfonia's concertmistress.

Lucy had some internist hours that she had to devote to a music department as part of her curriculum and she chose Garner's Church!!!  Lucy's main focus will be cataloging, filing, getting into order the expansive musical library at the church.  A daunting task and from my perspective as dry as wheat toast, but Lucy is EXCITED to be here and to be doing this function.  More power to her!!!!  If you stop by the church and see Lucy, PLEASE speak and THANK her for choosing Garner's church to devote this hours!!!!!

IT'S THE SHOES!!!!!

As many young'uns as there are running around this place I know this next article could be taken care of in one week!!  But here is Martha Wiseman with all the details:  In the next several weeks the James Auman Sunday School class is in need of a large number of used children's shoes that will be sent to Haiti.  Helen Little from Clayton has been 41 times to work with the people of Haiti.  Her thrust has been the children.  She distributes food, clothing and especially shoes to the children.  If you have children, grandchildren or great grandchildren that have shoes they aren't using, won't you consider bringing them to church?  Please put them in the containers near the elevator.  Thank you in advance.  Martha Wiseman  662-5117, if you have any questions

PS:  Helen will be at our church on June 8th in the fellowship hall during ,, the Sunday School hour.  Please join us to learn more about Helen's work.  Thanks, Martha Wiseman.

This weekend at the Power of 7, Habitat for Humanity event out at Lake Benson Park.  And due to EVERYONE'S efforts, preliminary receipts for the day have totaled over $21,000.00  There still may be some monies out there that has not been turned in and a few bills, but a good day all the way around!!!  GREAT JOB!!!!!!!

HATS OFF RECOGNITION

Goes to Nelda Rand and Edna Reynolds for great leadership on this past Wednesday's Conference sponsored Senior Adult Event.  With over 240 in attendance, having to feed all these, logistically get all these people going in the right direction, etc., Edna and Nelda really had your church shining!!! Shining!!  Shining!!

Much thanks to these two for a great, super job well done!!!!!!

"I KNOW YA'LL DIDN'T

want to see a bunch of us old folks coming to your church….But this Conference meant more than ya'll realize."  This comment was made by one of the participants of this past Wednesday's Senior Adult Event here at the church.  This participant continued in their comments stating that they knew it was "above and beyond," for our church to host this and do all the work for it, but that to come together with other Seniors and be able to talk and converse and see that there are others out there going and doing the same things in life, gave this person commenting to me, great hope.  They stated that they really enjoyed the worship aspect and the work shops, but to be with, see and talk to other Seniors from every corner of the Conference was just tops in their book!!!

YET another example of WHY we needed to build and pay for the new building we now occupy!!!  THANKS again to all of you who voted "yes," when it came time to step up to the plate on building this new building.  THANKS to all of you who have put blood, sweat and yes, even tears into the keeping and maintaining of this new building.  THANKS to ALL of you who continue to support the retiring of this debt on the new building!!!!  Let's continue to advance the colors!!!!!!
