DEADLINE TO ORDER

books for new women's study is TODAY!!!  Please let Gayle Hines know TODAY if you plan on taking this 7 week study.

Gayle HAS to know TODAY in order to get the books ordered and back in on time.  If you still need info on this study, go to this link on your church's website:  http://www.garnerumc.org/ministries/bible_based.html

WHAT'S THE BRONZE TREE

In the gathering area all about???  Here's Martha:  The Memorial Tree recently placed in the gathering area offers you the opportunity to remember a loved one or honor a relative or friend by having a lasting memorial in their honor. Consider commemorating a special event, or day with a leaf, acorn or stone engraved with wording you select.

The minimum donation for an engraved leaf is $250. Interested donors shall return the completed donation form and check to the church, with all checks being made out to GUMC/Memorial Tree.

For full details on this and to print out an application, here's the link:  http://www.garnerumc.org/events/memorial_tree.html

GARNER METHODIST SPEAKING IN TONGUES!!!!

No, no, no, put your nitro glycerin tablets away, Holy Spirit ain't that strong, but it sure seemed like the gift of "tongues" got all in a recent mailing to the congregation.  In this congregational mailing, page one was going along right well and then….page 2……well, page 2 seemed to be speaking something that was entirely different than page 1.  We regret this mishap, but the letter IN IT'S UNDERSTANDABLE ENTIRITY is contained in this month's "The ConneXion" (http://www.garnerumc.org/messenger/June.pdf).  We hope all of you will be in prayer about your church's situation and act as you are so led.

WHAT AM I GOING

To do with these lazy slugs I call kids for this summer???  I want them to be in something fun, organized and a place that they don't turn their brains off for the summer, but at the same time, I want them to be allowed to be kids!!!!  Then you gotta look at your church's Track Out program!!!  Track Out program has a FEW openings for the summer and I know that there were some "graduations" from Track 4 so I know that they have openings there as well.  JUST SOME of the things I know that they are doing this summer is Putt-Putt, Vertical Edge rock climbing, museum and to several parks.  If you OR SOMEONE in your office or neighborhood needs a good, clean, safe, fun, exciting place to let your "kid be a kid," send them to this website link:

http://www.garnerumc.org/ministries/track_out_program.html

OK, TRACK OUT IS FOR AGES

K-5th grade, what about the younger kids??  Your church has this covered as well!!!  There will be a preschool summer program where these young'uns will be doing fun and exciting things as well!!!  SUMMER PROGRAM IS NOT FULL…..YET!!!!!

Preschool summer program starts on 10 June and goes through

26 June.  Then they are off for the week of 04 July.  They start back the week following 04 July and go for four more weeks.

So your church is STILL reaching out to children and younger age youth when other agencies have the "Gone For The Summer" signs posted!!!  Praise God for our Preschool/Track Out Programs!!!!!!!

WHAT ABOUT PRESCHOOL

For the fall???  I know that it is not too early for this registration is it??  Well, no, in fact it may be TOO LATE and this e-mail may be for informational only to some of you……There are 3 year old classes (some two days a week and some three days a week) but these are FULL and a waiting list has been established with these.

Four year old classes are full EXCEPT, EXCEPT, there are a couple of openings in the 5 days per week four (4) year old program.  GET WITH CAROL HUNTER FAST if you are interested in this group, cause these few openings will go FASSST!!!!!!!!  For more info on the preschool programming here at Garner church, here is a good start….

http://www.garnerumc.org/ministries/preschool.html

I'LL SHUT UP AFTER

This one, but as the gospel song says, "…I just can't tell it all!!!" about what is happening in your church's Preschool Ministry program.  No one call tell me an official start date, but I know that some of the kids that were once in this program are now graduating from college and I am speaking about the Mother's Morning Out Co-op program here at that church.  As of last week, after many, many, many years of existence this program ceased in it's former format.  But have no fear!!!!  Carol Hunter and her abled staff have revamped, recycled and reconstituted this program into a more structured, certifiable, organized ministry outreach than in it's former capacity.  This program will serve ages 18 months to 2 years of age.  BUT THIS ANNOUNCEMENT is for informational only as this program is FULL, FULL, FULL for the fall!!!  There is a GREAT need in the community for this age group programming/ministry out reach and we are out of room and can only offer what we are offering now for this age group.  Next time you see Carol Hunter you pat her on the back and thank her for representing your church so well when it comes to little young'uns!!!!!

$8000.00 WORTH OF SALAD

eating is currently needed!!!  The youth will have a DONATION ONLY Ham and Variety Salad luncheon after church this Sunday!!

Good ole Virginia "Sunday lunch" hams, sliced generously, coupled with a varied variety of salads will be the food fare for the day on THIS SUNDAY!!!!   This meal is to help offset the expense of the Youth's Summer Mission Trip to The Refuge in late June.  Currently there is about $8000.00 needed…….Ya'll eat up……hear?????????

HEY!!  THERE ARE T-SHIRTS

On the table in the gathering area…what/who are they for??  Anyone wishing one!!!  They are the "Godspell" T-shirts and the Discovery Garner Methodist Church Style weekend T-shirts.  The only thing that the youth are asking is that you make SOME type of donation to the youth mission trip to The Refuge this summer.

Get a shirt.  Advertise the church, thus advertise Jesus.  Donate to the youth fund.  Get rid of a youth for a week!!!  How much more bang for your buck do you want than this!!!!!

THANKS FOR THE ROOF!!!!!!

Tonya Clark now has a brand new roof THANKS to the Youth Group!!!!  A HUGE Thank You is being sent out to all the youth and adults who came out this weekend and helped put on a new roof for Tonya!!!  Especially Tim Warren who headed up this project!!!!  Instead of Tonya paying a roofing company to come and do this work, Tonya made a contribution to the Youth Summer Mission Trip Fund!!!!  It was a true win/win situation!!!!!  Great roof!!!  Now only if it does not rain!!! Just kidding, just kidding, the roof is FINE!!!!!!

I HATE TO BE A NAG……….

but I don't want to see someone's lip hanging out so far that we could walk from here to Fuquay on it….so if you were planning on signing up for the Spring golf tournament and have not done so as of yet, here's a good place to be:  http://www.garnerumc.org/events/Golf2008[2].pdf

08 JUNE IS COMING UP ON US FAST

and we don't have enough shoes for a car load of Haitian children much less a village full!!!  PLEASE remember to bring your children's shoes and put in the box outside the elevators!!  Mrs. Little will be here on 08 June and we want her back to be'a hurtin'

from toting all those many, many shoes GUMC gives her,  up the steep slope in the Haitian village where she will deliver them.

ANOTHER SOMETHING THAT

they are looking for some support and consideration on is for any of ya'll that are planning on signing up for Vacation Bible School, they would LOVE to know ASAP!!!  This helps with food and supply planning/order and also we need to ensure that we have enough teachers.  Here's all the info on this so that you can help make your decision:  http://www.garnerumc.org/ministries/childrens.html

CONNEXION IS HERE!!

If you are used to getting the ConneXion electronically, then you should have received it over the weekend.  If you did not get it like that, here it is again:  http://www.garnerumc.org/messenger/June.pdf  And if you are used to getting it in a hard copy, they are on the Welcome table in the JOG service, on the Narthex usher's stand and on the mirrored piece of furniture in the gathering area.  So many ways to get the info!!!  No need for anyone to be left behind!!!!
