WITH SO MUCH THANKS!!!

The Youth Mission Work team wishes to thank ALL of you who supported their efforts on this Sunday past with fundraiser luncheon after church!!!  It was a huge success (over $900 raised!!!) and of course it would not have been possible without you!!!  Thanks to Doug (from J.K.'s restaurant in North Raleigh for helping put this thing together).  With the funds raised on Sunday we have about $9000.00 towards our $15,000.00 goal. It was some great food and even better fellowship!!  THANK YOU again for your monetary support, but more importantly your prayer support.  Prayer support will see our goals realized.  KEEP PRAYING!!!

LIGHTS??  CAMERA??  MUSIC??  THEATRICS??

What in the world is going on here????  Not really sure but just as when the wind picks up from the West, we know that there is a "change" coming to our weather, something is telling me something exciting is going to ascend on GUMC the 2nd weekend in September.  But what is it??  What is it all about???  I can't tell you cause I don't know full details either.  Full details to be forthcoming….

But go on and free up the 12th and/or 13th September as dates you will NOT want to miss……………Something's rumbling in the jungle………what on earth can it be???!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

BACK BRACE NEEDED FOR

Helen Little!!!  Sister Helen Little will of course be here during the Sunday School hour this week in the fellowship hall for her presentation on Haitian missions that she wants to involve us with.

But Sister Little is gonna need a back brace if she thinks she is going to take all THOSE children's shoes ya'll have brought, back with her to Haiti.  She better go on and call the folks in Haiti and tell them to have a pack mule at the airport to tote all these shoes back to the villages with her!!!!  Ya'll done good!!!!!  Keep the shoes coming (UNTIL this coming Sunday THEN STOP!!!).  For as many shoes as have been collected…..for every Haitian child that will get a pair of these, there will be two that will go away with none.  DON'T STOP BRINGING THE CHILDREN'S SHOES YET!!!!!!

FOOD OF THE MONTH:   Peanut Butter and Jelly

BULLET PROOF VEST FOR EVERYDAY LIVING!!

That is one of the comments wrote by someone that reviewed the new study by the morning (Wednesday mornings starting at 6 AM and ending dogmatically at 7 AM…so we can all get to work on time) Men of Faith men's group.  The official title of the book is:

"Leaning Into A Hail of Bullets."  Ain't hard to find this group as they are the only "event" in the building on Wednesday mornings at that time.  Would love to have you.  Want a little more info on the book before you start praying if this is the one for you???

Then here you go:  "Are you leaning into a hail of bullets? Have you ever been stopped in your tracks by one of these thoughts?: If I change just one number on my tax return. . . The hotel bill doesn't list movies by name. . . If she keeps looking at me like that. . . Men face a maelstrom of temptation every hour of every day. This study is a venue for small-group participants and individuals to take on the temptations that threaten their jobs, marriages, and families.

Think of it as a bullet-proof vest for day-to-day life."

MAIN COURSE PROVIDED!!!!!!

Family Picnic Sunday (THIS COMING SUNDAY!!!)  June 8th 5:30-8:00.  All rising 6th graders are invited to Lake Benson Park to join all the rest of the youth for a family picnic.  We will combine this picnic with the children and their families also.  The Youth Group will be supplying the Hamburgers & Hot Dogs and drinks, families are being asked to provide a covered dish.  Bring a friend and come join the fun as we kick off the summer programs.

Thanks so much, your church's Youth Group!!!

BRING A SWEATER/DON'T COME NAKED……

Even with the Board of Trustee's mandated lowering, by two set points, of the thermostat's for the AC this summer due to budgetary shortfalls, this still does mean that it will be hot at the church.  KEEP IN MIND that the gym area (and sanctuary for that matter) alone is one BIG area to cool.  For that reason, we cannot just go in there, turn the thermostat up or down and in 12.2 minutes we see a significant drop in air temp.  To change air temps in such a large area will take at least an hour, not minutes.  This system also is focusing in on equalizing air temps and not fluctuating air temps.  So the system will be trying to keep the room at one steady temp (thereby saving on fuel costs).  BUT TO THIS END, in order to do so, the gym will STILL feel cooler to some of you even with mandated reductions in set points.  It's common sense…….if you are cold natured……bring a sweater.  And remember just cause it's 98 degrees outside and that outfit is "so cute on you," it don't mean it's going to be 82 degrees inside here at the church.  Just a good reminder before we start into the much hotter days of summer.

HAVE YOU CALLED

Wanda in the church office and gotten your special date in July reserved to put flowers in the sanctuary??  Look alive!!!  Call today!!!  A plain, cold, flower podium is a stark contrast to one adorned with bloomers!!!  If you call one of our own, Raymond Wanchock (at Special Arrangement florist 779-2000….and NO Raymond did not ask for this advertisement and will be embarrassed that I did this) he will take care of ALL your sanctuary flowering needs………one stop shopping!!!!
