CHURCH CHAT

Church Chat June 13, 2008

FOR MOST OF US,

Unless we are "the rich and famous," after our obit and possible picture appear in the paper at our passing, we don't usually appear in the newspaper again…..but not for Brother Moreland Gueth.  If you did not get to see Moreland's GREAT write up from Sunday in the paper, we have posted it on the "NEWS" board in the hallway between Bob and Susan's office OR you may simply click here and let your fingers do the walking: http://www.newsobserver.com/news/life_stories/story/1108726.html

WHO DAT?????????

Who is on that work team that went down East yesterday???  Who are some of the "front line" troops making a difference in the cause of Christ????  Want to see some tangible hands and feet of Christ??  Lookie here!!!

FOOD OF THE MONTH:  Peanut Butter and Jelly

OK, OK, SEEN THE

Smiling faces, but what are they actually doing at the camp.  Here's some of the reports we are getting:  A good work day (Monday). Everyone safe. Bug spray is definitely their ally! Projects include clearing a trail, building a foot bridge, & some renovations in an old house along with others.  They are staying at Ormondville Freewill Baptist Church along with getting their meals there as well.  They are being allowed access to a local school to take their showers.  All in the name and cause of Christ…..ain't you proud!?!?!!?!?!?

WITH HUGE THANKS!!!!!

There are so many people who made Helen Little's visit a couple of  Sundays  such a success.  There were about 250 pairs of children's shoes donated.  Helen was surprised at the number of items of clothing and food we gave her.  Her car and trunk was loaded to the top.  Only her driver's seat was vacant.  Please keep the shoes, clothing and food items coming.  There is such a great need. If you need any information, you may call me at 662-5117. Thanks to you who contributed in any capacity. Martha Wiseman

SPECIAL HAITIAN COLLECTION BIN……

Due to the ongoing need and desire of the James Auman SS Class to be of assistance to Helen Little and her Haitian children's initiative, a specially marked bin has been established out by the Mission Collection area at the elevators.  Please place children's shoes and snacks in this bin.  Just to show you the "heart of God," at work, several of the ladies in the James Auman SS class have hand made over 50 pairs of boys shorts.  Another member of the class has given over 250 T and collared shirts for the boys of Haiti.  In addition to this, several of the members of this class are also HAND SEWING dresses for the little girls.  HAND SEWING!!!  Garner church is reaching out for God……….and God is reaching back!!!!  Keep giving Garner church, you will NOT out give God!!  But let's try any how!!!!!!!!!!!!

I CAN'T KEEP UP WITH

What all the youth are doing this summer!!!  Is there a "one stop shopping" place that I can go and get pretty close to what, where, when, why and how the youth are doing this summer???  You bet you can!!!!  On the Youth bulletin board, right outside of Patricia's office is an Excel spread sheet with ALL you might want to know about the youth and their activities this summer.  DISCLAIMER:

If you tire easily DO NOT look at this sheet as you will grow weary seeing ALL that your church's youth are doing!!!!!!!!!!!

PORK BBQ, FRIED CHICKEN, CHIX NUGGETS

Pork ribs, hamburgers, hot dogs and more and more are just some of the food that is being planned for this year's VBS!!!!!  If you don't come but for the food your registration fee will be WELL worth it!!!!!  But God has something else in store for VBS folks and that's an encounter with Him!!!!!!  It's not too late!!!

Here's a link with the info:  http://www.garnerumc.org/ministries/childrens.html

PRAYER WARRIORS……….ACTIVATE!!!!!!!!

Fact:  Church does not have the money to do this right now.

Fact:  Scripture (Psalm 50:10) tell us that our Daddy has "cattle on a thousand hills."

Fact:  Ministry needs another 15 passenger van up at the church for an every Saturday ministry opportunity.

Fact:  Don't need a new, all fancied, belled and whistled vehicle.

Need:  Believing that our heavenly Daddy has a "cattle on a thousand hills," and if we go to Him and let Him know our needs, He will be faithful and just to help supply these said needs, I am calling on prayer warriors (and not just those from GUMC) to start committing to your prayers/prayer time, that someone step forward and give the church a 15 passenger van for a ministry opportunity.

Can you hear me now??  Prayer warriors…….ACTIVATE!!!!!!!!!

HELLO??  ANYONE UP THERE??????

If this is a question that you are asking about your church this week, then you are right on the money.  Please know that if you are seeking something (and have sent an e-mail or sent a voice mail) for Pastor Bob, Susan, Patricia or Steve, it will be AT LEAST the weekend before you get your answer.  The first three aforementioned persons are on a mission trip this week and Brother Steve is at a Conference.  Be in prayer for your church's leadership as they are in the "missions field," actually being the hands and feet of Christ and not just figure heads!!!!!  Praise God for an example setting leadership and not "all talk, no walk," ones!!!!!

YA' BUSY?????

Got time to wash a pillow case (less then a load of wash in a top load washer) of Wake Interfaith laundry???  Not asking anyone person to do it all, but if you would be willing to take a pillow case of soiled laundry home with you, wash, dry, fold and bring back to the church, we sure would be appreciative.  The soiled laundry is under the steps at the FELLOWSHIP HALL end of the building.

Get what you will and wash away!!!!!

WII'S EVERYWHERE!!!!
Wii games and the latest Wii games will be high on the agenda for the 29 June excursion for the youth!!!!  Just need to let Patricia know if you are going.  This week, due to Patricia being away on the Mission trip, you will have to leave her a voice mail or e-mail at the church.  Here's the info to help you decide if you are going to go:

June 29 - all youth are going to Wii Bource in Cary.  We will leave at 1:30 after YVT and return about 4:15.  Cost is $10.  Come out and have fun on the inflatables for all ages and some of the newest and popular Wii games.  Sign up on the youth bulletin board by June 22 to reserve your spot.

TURN YOUR BELLTONES UP
and maybe I need to go to a large font on this one, but Wanda in the office reports that the only date that is taken for flowers on the altar in the sanctuary is 13 July.  Now do you really want to see a black cloth over the flower stand in worship cause there are no flowers up there????   Stave off the black cloth.....call Wanda TODAY!!!!!!

CHURCH BAY:

Beach Place Still Has Some Dates!!!:  Al, Our condo still has some weeks and weekends open this summer, with a portion of the rental income going towards The Refuge. The week of July 4 is one of the weeks still available. We only rent to family & friends (and friends of friends). If anyone is interested, contact Terri & Jerry Leeman at 851-8516 for more details.
