SIDE BAR PRAYERS:
I will get you the last names (but I don't know why, cause God knows who you are talking about), but Lynn a worker in our Senior Adult Daycare is to go into Duke this coming week to have a tumor removed from her pituitary gland. And the director of our ESL program, Monica worked her last day this week as she goes out on maternity leave. Have mercy I told Monica I was GLAD that this was her last week, cause Al don't know nothing about birthing no babies!!!!!!!!! Please keep both of these great ladies in your prayers as the go through these medical situations.
BIBLE SCHOOL!!! BIBLE SCHOOL!!!! BIBLE SCHOOL!!!!
That is the focus this weekend as VBS starts TONIGHT!!! Oh man, so much planning. So many people that actually care about what the children will be learning and doing about Jesus, have been ACTIVE. This event has been bathed in so much prayer that it is wrinkled like your hands after being in dish water for so long. PLEASE continue to pray for this weekend, the entire weekend out, so God will come and speak to each and every child, adult and have mercy, pray that the Holy Spirit is so strong this weekend that it even touches the people whizzing by on Highway 70!!!!!! Ya'll come on down, you hear??? This is going to be an AWESOME!!! Weekend!!!
WRECKING BALLS AND TADPOLES
Take over Greene County NC!!!!!! In addition to the "Wrecking Ball" team, which is "gutting" a farm house to be "rebuilt" later, your church's youth group mission team other team names are: "The Tadpoles," which are sinking pilings for the fishing pier for planking of the pier to begin once this is through. There is the "Muskrat Team," and they are building foot bridges over wet land areas, in an effort to maintain the wetlands, but yet be able to get from one dry area of land to the other. And last but not least there is a "Trail Blazing" team that is responsible for clearing brush, scrub trees for "meditation" trails through out the camp area. So your church's youth work teams are not only building a camp from the ground up, they are being eco-friendly about it at the same time!!!! What a crew!!! Have also heard rumors that "someone" let all the air out of the boy's air mattresses and some folks' things have disappeared and then appeared once again. They could not ask for everyone to be getting along any better than the teams are and could we have dialed up any better weather for this team??? Only a few bumps and bruises (and sore bodies from the "old" folks on the trip that ain't used to "working.") and one "spot" of poison ivy on one ankle. Keep this group in prayer as they finish up their work tomorrow at noon and then head back to Garner. "ESTIMATED" time of arrival back in Garner is 4 PM on Saturday. Get a hot bath drawn and a "tick and flea dip" prepared for these troopers for the King!!!!
FOOD OF THE MONTH: Peanut Butter and Jelly
"CHARLIE BROWN," IS COMING
alive at Garner church!!! The Charlie Brown play that the youth drama team is working on is coming together like a stitch and a needle!!! Again, the talent in this church, from the children all the way through the adults is so amazing!!! I am not wanting to spoil any surprises, but just you wait till you see/hear one segment of this production that one of our very own wrote……..this one is TRULY amazing!!!! But Al is shutting up now, before he blabs something he shouldn't, but you go on mark down 02, 03 August…and oh yea, I am saying it will be good enough to come BOTH nights!!!!!!!!!!!
WHAT A GREAT REMINDER
Bible School will be, while you are bringing a young'un to the church for VBS you can remember to bring your used (or hey, even new!!) children's shoes and place them in the bin by the elevator marked for the Haitian Children's Project. This will be an ongoing Mission outreach by the James Auman SS class, so KEEP DEM SHOES A'COMIN!!!!!!!!!
FOOD OF THE MONTH: Peanut Butter and Jelly
REMEMBER, DEDICATED PRAYER
Warriors are needed to continue to bathe our need for a 15 passenger van to be donated to the church for a ministry opportunity we have here every Saturday. Maybe God isn't looking to get us another 15 passenger van as much as is to get a focused group of folks to get their CDL's so that the bus can be used instead!!! At the present time our "nets" are so full of "catch," that we to sometimes make TWO trips!!! Pray for either a 15 passenger van donation OR a firm, dedicated group get their CDL's. Please pray.
WEST BEND CAN OPENER
Used by Garner Methodist to open a can of "whoop tail" at Championship Game last night!!!! The GUMC Crusaders Men's Softball Team over came the men's team from 1st Baptist of Garner by a score of 19-4 to become the 2008 Softball Champions last night at Creech Road Park. What'a team!!!! In related news, it was also reported, after the game last night, that Coach Jimmy Kelly's contract had been renewed for next seasons play, but something about "by the skin of his teeth," was mentioned.

KEG PARTY AT MISSI/KRISTOPHER'S WHILE THEIR AWAY!!!!!!
No, not really, but they are looking for someone that would be willing to look after their dog while they are out of town and said person can even stay at their house!!!!! Here's Missi with all the details: Kristofer and I are looking for a person that would take care of our 7 month old puppy, Bella, every now and then when we are out of town and can't take her with us. She is a bully boxer, an English Bulldog/Boxer mix. The person could stay at our house or have Bella at their house, whatever is easier. We also have a cat that would need to be fed, but she is not as high maintenance as Bella. We know we won't need anyone until after we are at our new house at the end of July. Interested folks can contact me at mhbaker@nc.rr.com or 919-412-3274. Thanks! Missi Baker
