YOUTH VOCAL TEAM
has completed it's summer schedule!!!!  There will be on more practices/forthcoming schedules until the fall!!!!  Keep posted on this one and Steve will get you some info when the time comes!!!!!!  Exciting things coming for the fall!!!!!!!!!!

NOW LOOK WHAT YOU HAVE

Gone and done!!!!  When you get on this link….scroll down just a tad until something familiar that catches your eye:  http://www.thesonsetrefuge.org/current_events.htm

WHILE THOSE IMAGES

Are fresh in your mind, on Sunday night it was a time of God honoring, enjoying, eating, laughing, remembering and eating some more.  This was at The Refuge Appreciation dinner given for ALL of you who helped support this youth mission team trip this summer.  Just as the little boy with the pieces of bread and fish under estimated the numbers, Patricia and her team didn't think "God size" either, but still Patricia and her team (well, mostly it was God, but to make them feel better we'll just say Patricia and her team) came through so that NO one left hungry.  But more importantly, after seeing the pictures and hearing the eye witness stories……………I think that people in the church starting seeing the "vision," of The Refuge and the potential that lies in these 160 acres of "God's land."

DON'T WANT TO GO

Work for a week at The Refuge or even over night…..but still want to go and be a part????  HEY!!!  Have Patricia and the youth got a deal for you!!!!  On Saturday 19 July (THIS COMING!! Saturday) there will be a day work team going down to finish up some of what the earlier work teams had started AND start on some new projects!!!!  How exciting to be on the ground floor of something like this camp!!!  Think of those that were the first "troopers for the King" that helped start Camp Don Lee or Camp Rockfish…You are being given this very opportunity in "The Refuge."  Come be a part of something VERY special!!!!  Get with Patricia TODAY and let her know, "Hey, I stand with folks that want to help at risk and under privileged kids!!!!"

SATURDAY'S WORK DAY UPDATE!!!!
Patricia has just run in the office (just before I hit "Send" on this transmission) with Saturday's "who, what, when, where."  Meet at the church on THIS SATURDAY
at 5:30 "AM" and then they will pull out at 6 "AM."  If you have them, bring yard tools,
hammers, gloves, etc.  Don't "pack" your common sense, but bring it along with you in that this is an ACTIVE work site.......SHOES (not those "to die for flip flops that match your top") will be a necessary part of your attire.  In addition you might want to bring some long britches along as well cause there is poison ivy, briers, etc.  You wear short britches at your own peril.  "Common sense" would dictate that you THINK about where you are going and what you might be doing as to what you plan on wearing.

PARDON THE MESS!!!!
Brother Steve Wheltle (and several of "elves") are doing some revamping in the choir room area at the moment.  This week Steve has been staining the choir robe cabinets and pitching a bunch of junk!!!!!  Later in the summer some more changes will be taking place in the choir room so, stay tuned and again......pardon the mess!!!!!!!

GOD MADE'EM ALL

Nature walks for the kids!!!  Here's all the details:

MOVIE NIGHT IS BACK!!!!!!

July 20th from 5:00pm-7:00pm

Children and parents are invited to join us on July 20th from 5:00-7:00 for dinner, popcorn, and a movie as we kickoff our school supply collection for Hope Elementary.  Children are asked to please bring in school supplies that night and throughout the summer.  We will be collecting school supplies until August 24th in the collection bin by the elevator.

WHEN IS THE KNOWING THE

Bible thing better than a GUMC Kid?????  Here's the place for all the info on this great and fun event:  http://www.garnerumc.org/ministries/Do+you+know+the+Bible+like+a+GUMC+kid+announcement.doc

IS THERE SOME PLACE

That I can go and get ALL the news about "Kidz" in the church??

A place that will keep me up to date and on top of EVERYTHING going on in the Children's Ministry???  You better believe that Carlene is on top of this!!!!  Here's a GREAT resource for parents (and those that like to keep abreast of things going on/in/around their church as it pertains to Children's Ministries).  You go Carlene!!!!!!!   http://www.garnerumc.org/ministries/Children%27s+Newsletter+for+July.doc

SHE'S PSYCHIC!!!!  SHE'S PSYCHIC!!!!

No, not really………Karel Standish is many things……I digress.......but psychic she ain't….but she sure "guessed" this one.  In one of the above articles Karel sends us info on getting cheap school supplies and then what does Carlene send out???????  Here you go with the plea for school supplies:  http://www.garnerumc.org/ministries/School+Supply+Collection+Kickoff.doc

I AIN'T PSYCHIC EITHER!!!!

But on Friday I made the "claim" that there might be some clapping in worship……and sure enough there was!!!!!  If you don't get the worship tape from Sunday for any other reason you should get it to hear the Chancel Choir's rendition of Ray Boltz's anthem: "I Pledge Allegiance to the Lamb."  WOW!!!  The Chancel Choir blew this one away!!!!!!  WOW!!!!!!

WANTING MORE FROM

A Bible study???  Want to dive deep into Scriptures and not just wade around close to the bank???  Then Disciple Bible Study is a GREAT way/place to be this fall.  Depending upon the need/response, there could be two classes of Disciple going on here at the church.  ALL the info you would need to decide about this study is on the info table in the gathering area.  There is also a sign up sheet on this table so that the team will know of your desire to take one of these studies so they can get the proper book and the proper numbers of books!!!!

HAD SO MUCH RESPONSE ON

This one (not really, but it sounded good that folks wanted to take care of their own church didn't it!!!) that I thought that I would repost this one:  Church "To Do List," has been posted on copier room door.  During this slow time in the life of the church building now is a GREAT time to get some things done without too much traffic in your way.  If you would be willing to help your church out, the "To Do List," has been posted on the door of the copier room.  If you do something on the list, please just mark through the project (some VERY simple and some not so simple) and put your name or group beside it so we know that it is taken care of and by whom.  Your church thanks you!!
