EMMAUS WALKERS:
Emmaus Community members - I am trying to compile a updated directory of GUMC members who have attended the Emmaus walk or a Chrysalis flight. I hope to collect contact information (email, phone, address, walk #, etc) to add to the list of member names that I currently have. Please email or call me with your information if you'd like to be included so we can begin getting information out to everyone. mmcleod1@nc.rr.com or 779-7440.
In addition, if you have not been on the Walk to Emmaus, but are interested in getting information on this spiritual renewal program, please email me and we will put you in contact with someone in the group. Thanks, Mary-Margaret McLeod
UCK!!!! BUGS AND TOADS!!!!!
That is the stereotype that most "girls" are categorized into when thinking of touching bugs and frogs and snails and slugs….but not a Garner UMC girl!!!! That is what the Nature Camp Crew is finding that started on Wednesday. At the moment (and this is not by design and they would like some male species to come be a part as well!!!) it is an all girl Nature Camp, but reports are that these girls are not squeamish or the "squealing" type. They are right in there looking and seeing, touching and feeling. This week's camp has been about "Creation." And these "day campers," have been to Lake Benson and seen up close and personal some of God's greatest creations. After some time spent in the park they took a field trip over and did some fishing as well. All to learn about God and His creation. Maybe they will be the future for us, so that we can learn to better take care of God's creation as His plan laid out in Genesis. Thanks to Carlene and her crew for such an innovative way to connect kids with God's creation. What they are doing and showing the kids would take months and months of reading about this in a Sunday School Classroom!!!!!!
WELL, KNOCK IT IN THE HEAD!!!!
Due to the lack of response, the after church event of this Sunday entitled, "Are You Smarter Than A GUMC Kid," has been "knocked in the head," by Carlene and her crew. Could not get enough contestants nor enough people to want to come to eat.
Therefore the fundraising event to help sponsor a child over at the Methodist Home for Children is canceled.
CAN YOU HELP US OUT???
We have been out of several varieties of drinks in the drink machine for a few weeks now and need some help getting this stocked back up. Our current DRY AS A BONE needs are for:
Regular (not caffeine free, not with a lemon, not with a Batman doll in every can) Diet Mt. Dew, Dr. Pepper. Other varieties that are way, way down are: Mt. Dew (again nothing fancy here just PLAIN old Mt. Dew) and Regular Cokes. If you are able and are led, please bring these and drop them off in the copier room.
ALL proceeds from the sale of canned drinks from this machine are plowed right back into the ministries of your church……Drink a soda……give somebody Jesus!!! What a deal!!!!
