AMY SPEAKS……………So listen up!!!  Here's Amy:  For those folks interested in Disciple 3, we will be kicking things off Sunday, Sept. 7, at 6:00 p.m.  If you have not done so, please sign up on the sign up sheet or contact Amy Gregory (formerly Sutton) at 773-0659 or amys4jc@yahoo.com  to insure we have enough study materials for everyone.  We will begin our formal classes Sunday Sept. 14 at 5:00.  We look forward to seeing you there and sharing God's word.  Thanks, Amy Gregory.    GOOD GOO-DA-MOOKIE!!!!!!!!!!!!It is being said that there is as much oil reserves BELOW the sea as there is BELOW the earth's surface…..AND SO IT IS WITH TALENT AT GARNER CHURCH!!!!!  This past weekend with the youth sponsored, "You're A Good Man Charlie Brown," production we saw some of that "below the sea" talent here at Garner church!!!  BLOWN AWAY!!!!  My goodness!!  That special "drill bit," of this production hit pay dirt this weekend as the talent just gushed and gushed on that stage in the gym!!!!  I am sorry to say that if you did not get out to this weekend's production, you really missed something special!!!  What other talent lies "just beneath" the surface here???   What ways are we as a church willing to tap into this God given talent????  Only time will tell……………. TRADITIONAL SCHOOL TO STARTBack real soon…..so school supplies and school clothing are going to be in full swing!!!  So while out doing for your Junior and little Suzy, please do not forget that SCHOOL SUPPLY donations are now being accepted BEFORE!!  BEFORE!!  24 August for Hope Elementary School.  ALSO, and this one is on going, The James Auman SS Class is taking GENTLY used and NEW children's shoes for the Haitian children's mission.   Can you hear me now??? FOOD OF THE MONTH:  Soup CRUNCH TIME!!!  CRUNCH TIME!!!Disciple I and Disciple II classes are being formulated, scheduled and supplies for the classes will soon be ordered!!!!  Time is running out on you "fence sitters!!!"  Let your yes be yes and your no be no……If you are planning on signing up for EITHER of these classes……GET CRACKING!!!!!  WOW!!!  HOW LOUD WAS THAT!!!Fire suppression system folks were here at the church yesterday doing the yearly, governmental required inspection of the fire suppression system here at the church.  They had to set off the "sounders and strobes."  THEY WORK!!!!  The "water side" or sprinkler system is also scheduled to have it's yearly, governmental required inspection this week as well.  In addition to all this inspecting going on, most ALL carpets in the hallways, gathering areas and children's classrooms downstairs are being cleaned and sanitized as well, in preparation for the church to get started back in full swing here pretty quick.  Carpet cleaners will be here today and again on Thursday.  They will clean on Thursday those areas that they could not get to that were occupied on today.  We are getting ready....................................................  A RECEPTION IN HONOR
of newly elected Bishop (and former pastor of St. Andrew's UMC and Assistant to our Bishop) Paul Leeland will be held THIS COMING Sunday from 3-5 PM at Edenton Street UMC.  All persons in the Conference are invited to attend!!!   TENTATIVE!!  TENTATIVE!!!  TENTATIVE!!!Next work day at The Refuge will be on 06 September.  This will be an early morning leaving and late afternoon/early evening returning trip.  Just so she will know, let Patricia know if you plan on making this trip!!! HEY YOUTH!!!  ROAD TRIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Friday August 8th (those youth with Harnett County lineage, that means THIS coming Friday) all youth will be going to Tucker Lake in Benson.  Cost for the day is $9 for admission.  You can rent  canoes and kayaks for $3 an hour.   There is a concession stand or you can pack your lunch.  We can take a cooler, chairs, floats, etc.  We will leave at 9:00 and return about 7PM.  If you plan to go on this day trip email Patricia and get your name on the list so we can make sure we have enough transportation and also, so that when you are late we don't leave Garner without you!!!!Need to hear from'ya!!!!    LOCK THE YOUTH UP!!!  LOCK THE YOUTH UP!!!!!Oh wait!!!  I mean Lock In Planned for the Youth!!!  Lock In Planned for the Youth!!!!  Here's Trish with the details:  Jr. High Lock-In this Friday (as in the day after Thursday) night starting at 10 PM ending at 10AM.  Plans are for midnight bowling, 2 AM trip to Wal-Mart, stop somewhere for food, and other activities.  Jimmy Kelly will transport us in the bus around town.  Bring sleeping bag or blanket and pillow just in case you decide to catch a few hours of sleep around daybreak!    Would also love to have several parents that want to stay up and have a blast all nigh with us.  Email Patricia and let her know if you want to volunteer.  Youth need to email also and let Patricia know you plan to attend. PATRICIA IS JUST FULL OF......information today!!!  Here's some info she has on Garner Restoration Project:  Operation Restoration August 14-16.  Projects will include roofing, replacing a floor, improvements to a bathroom, fixing a deck, replacing facia boards, large item trash pickup and some yard work.   If you have not volunteered please contact Susan Hobbs to get your name on a work team or volunteer to help with making lunches each day, a community pig picking on Saturday or to help with Backyard Bible School.   Our church is sponsoring one of the work projects with a goal of $2500. If you wish to contribute to this special offering, please mark your check Operation Restoration.  
This is a project with other local churches, each sponsoring projects.  Come out and help us make a house safer, drier, give their children a chance to attend Backyard Bible School while having fun and let our community know our churches care about them.  FOOD OF THE MONTH:  Soup    I AM NOT GONNA SAYAnything else about the Men's Spiritual retreat weekend.  So for that reason, wives, here's the info that your husband will need: http://www.raleighdistrictumm.org/index.php?pr=2008_Spiritual_Rally CHURCH BAY:FREE TO A GOOD HOME:  Ann Nusbaum (919-949-3243) has a little girls, white in color, bedroom suite to offer to someone.  She has the twin bed (with mattress and box springs) dresser and night stand.  Remember, this one will be first come and first serve only..  Good luck on dialing!!!!!!   TID BIT:  This is not endorsing this person over anyone else or any other business in Garner/Raleigh area.  Just know how helpful this person has been with me when in a pinch.  But if you are needing some small engine repairs (chain saws, mowers both riding and push, weed eaters, blowers, edgers, etc.,)  and need "turn around time," to be kept to a minimal and pricing that is right, then give Dan Belk a call at (919) 772-4652.  He has a small but efficient shop in his back yard.  Tell Dan I sent you….you will either get cursed out for mentioning my name or maybe something favorable…..with me and my name, it's always a gamble………
