COLLEGE AGE YOUNG ADULTS!!

If you have not been able to come to the College Age Bible Study this summer, you have really missed something special!!!  Sara Nickalson has really done a great job of taking this concept and RUNNING with it!!!!  As College age young adults get prepared to return to their respective colleges/jobs, here is Patricia with the back to college event:  College Bible Study Cook out tonight at Sara Nickalson's 515 Lakeside Dr. @ 6 PM.  Bring chips or soda and some fun outdoor/indoor games.  We will eat at Sara's house and enjoy the outdoors, then move over to Patricia & Shannon's for some late night games.  This will be our last meeting for the summer.  Next meeting will be Sunday night Sept 7th, 8 PM at Patricia & Shannon's house.  All college students are invited and encouraged to join this group.  Thanks so much, Patricia.

MAN!! YA'LL DOIN' GOOD!!!!

So let's don't stop now!!!!  Current Mission Collection Items:

***School Supplies TILL 24 August

***GENTLY used or even NEW!! children's shoes for Haitian Children's Shoe Project

***Food of the Month:    Soup

I SURE DO THANK YOU….

for everyone that came out to assist me in my fundraiser last week, thank you! We raised just over 100 dollars for Project Red to help fight AIDS in Africa. Thanks again,  Brent Coffey.

BACK TO SCHOOL BLAST!!!!!!

On August 24th from 5-6:30 PM, GUMC kids (Pre-K thru 5th grade) are invited to come make a splash at our back to school blast!!!  We will have various water activities to cool off after having such a scorching hot summer.  Hot dogs, beverages, and desserts will be served.  All this fun and all we ask is for donations of school supplies, even if it is only one pencil or a pack of paper.  NO GIFT IS TOO SMALL!!!!  We would also appreciate side dishes to go with our hot dog meal.  Anyone who is interested in helping with this event, please call Julie Delaney 661-0719 (home)or 696-8829 (cell) or you may contact Carlene Lucas as well.  Thank you so much, Julie Delaney.

CELL PHONES ARE STARTING

To show up again, so I guess it is time to start that collection again.  Cell phones are being collected (we need at least 50 per shipment) so that these cell phones are recycled and the proceeds off the recycled phones go to buy phone cards so military personnel the world over can call home for FREE!!!!!  So, if you are upgrading cell phones, PDA's, black berries, iPhones, etc., or you have some floating around in a junk drawer, PLEASE bring them to the church and leave them IN THE COPIER ROOM!!!  WIRELESS DEVICES ARE THE ONLY THINGS WE CAN USE.  Cordless land based telephones cannot be recycled in this program.  Thanks!!

SLOWLY, BUT SURELY….

Your church's "To Do List," is being dwindled down…..but as these items are taken off as they are done, folks are coming up with more things that they "see," that needs doing.  So, for that reason we have cleaned up and updated the church's "To Do List," and have attached this said list to the copier room door.  Most jobs can be done by an individual or a small work team can knock these out.  Nothing on the list is huge in task, but the rewards are………..priceless……………….

WITH MUCH THANKS,To all of you who provided a dish for the bereaved family meal for the P.K. Banks' family this past weekend.  For all of you who have only provided a dish for a meal, but have not been able to witness first hand what this meal does, you should come sometime and see.  For an example, with the P.K. Banks' family with some of them from California and others from Texas and still others from other far flung places, regrettably, until someone else close passes, they will not get together and fellowship like they did over the meal you provided for them on Saturday past.  The remembering and laughing and getting to see and talk with family members that have only spoken with by phone, video cam, e-mail, snail mail, etc., is something that a price cannot be applied.  Again, THANKS to all of you who on Saturday, or have in the past, provided or help serve a bereaved family meal.  The benefits of which you may not fully realize until we too crossfrom this side to the other of Jordan's stream.

IT'S ONLY ONE DAY THIS YEAR!!!

YOU GOT ANY??

Rita Gibson is moving into a place on this coming Saturday and the place has no carpet, so Rita was wondering if anyone had an area rug that they were no longer using.  Rita is also looking for a full size bed, some chairs for her dining room table OR a matching table/chair set.  I told Rita I could hook her up with a size 16 wedding dress and baby swing………But none of the other items.

Rita just looked at me smiling as she ran from me……oh well…..

If you can help Rita out on her items she wanted, here is her contact:  rgibsonrita@aol.com

FOR SALE:  I have a wedding dress that I would like to sell for $100.  It originally sold for $1000.00, so it is a good deal if you happen to be looking for one.  It is a size 16 and probably needs Dry Cleaning as it has been hanging in my closet for a while.  Please  email me at godsdream4u@yourdreamquest.org or call at 614-0344.  Cindy Roberts

FOR FREE!!  Baby Swing in excellent condition. Used only for a short period of time with my grandson who has outgrown it. Would like to give this to someone in the church with a newborn or expecting a baby soon. Please call: Brenda Dickson @ 919-773-4696.

FOR FREE!!   Ann Nusbaum (919-949-3243) has a little girls, white in color, bedroom suite to offer to someone.  She has the twin bed (with mattress and box springs) dresser and night stand.  Remember, this one will be first come and first serve only.
