We would also appreciate side dishes to go with our hot dog meal. Anyone who is interested in helping with this event, please call Julie Delaney 661-0719 (home) or 696-8829 (cell) or you may contact Carlene Lucas as well. Thank you so much, Julie Delaney.

OPERATION RESTORATION
is really making a LARGE splash in one of the older neighborhoods in Garner. It was kicked off with a ROUSING worship service at Wake Grove Baptist Church on Wednesday night with over 140 persons representing black folks, white folks, Baptist folks, Methodist folks, etc. Then the work began on Thursday morning. Bible School is being taught in the neighborhood to the kids, and yesterday the framing was done on one of the porches that were being replaced by a work team. The flooring will be put down this morning. One roof had old roof removed, repair work to the underlying rafters/roofing boards and black paper put down. This morning new shingles will be applied. But the touch of Christ to the residents of this area of town has been the most beautiful and most useful of ALL the things done!!! Thanks to ALL of you who have assisted in this endeavor with your prayers, behind the scenes stuff, hands on stuff over at the work sites, monetary donations etc. The benefits from this endeavor will "pay it forward," for sometime to come.
INCANDESCENT COMING TO AN END………..
Last week The Bible Class went to a more "green" form of lighting when they commissioned to have fluorescent lighting installed in their classroom. This week, the church sponsored Scout troop rubbed two nickels together to make a dime and their borrowed from the church space is having a fresh coat of paint applied and fluorescent lighting installed in this room. The only two remaining rooms in the church that will have incandescent lighting will be the choir room and The Fellowship Class. It is my understanding that things are in motion to change the lighting out in the choir room.
Your church is trying in many ways not necessarily to become the new craze of "green," but follow the first Environmentalist when He admonished our human father Adam, "to look after and tend the earth." (Genesis 2:15 NIV)
LITTLE BITTY WHITE HAIRED WOMAN THANK YOU!!!
Lillie Mae has called and said "thank you!!" "thank you!!" "thank you!!" for the beautiful job that ALL of you workers did in her yard a few Saturday's ago. From cutting shrubs, edging, picking up limbs, to the "rat killing," cutting the garden, toting wood, etc. You made one bitty white haired woman REAL happy.......Ain't that what Jesus wants from His church?????
MISSION OUTREACH NEEDS:
**"Cell Phones For Soldiers" Need ANY wireless device (phone, PDA, Blackberry)
**Food Of The Month: Soup
**Children's Shoes for Haitian Mission Children's Shoe Project
**School Supplies for needy Wake County School (this one ends 24 August!!)
TRAFFIC SHIFT AHEAD!!!
Those persons that have been parking along the curbing in front of the church for Sunday services, will need to seek other parking arrangements starting this Sunday.
Due to the TIGHT space between cars backing out of designated parking places right in front of the church and cars parked along the curb, the Board of Trustees approved the
NO PARKING zone along the curbing. In addition to the very close calls of people backing into others cars in this area, with cars parked along the curb it is next to impossible to have a two way drive in front of the church, which causes a bottle neck after church. Please help in this new traffic pattern. By the time Sunday rolls around, there should be signs up AND for just a little while, till folks get used to this, caution tape as well. We are just trying to make things as safe and orderly flowing as possible.
Thanks for your help and consideration.
HEARTS FOR LOVE
Is a Missions Project of the United Methodist Women. For only a $5.00 donation you are able to make a gift to Missions and at the same time honor or memorialize someone special in your life. The forms and envelopes to use are either at the Church Office or on the UMW bulletin board. The donations may be made in either cash or check (made payable to United Methodist Women) and can be turned in at the Church Office or simply put into the collection Sunday morning. We can accept donations until August 28. All of the donation goes to Missions and an acknowledgment card will be sent to the person honored or to the family of a gift in memory. Thank you for your support of the United Methodist Women. Thanks, Betty Jo Creed.

THE RITA HOOK UP
Has anyone gotten Rita hooked up on any of these items??? Look over this list again and see if there is not something in your garage or attic that needs to GO and could help Rita out:
Rita Gibson is moving into a place on this coming Saturday and the place has no carpet, so Rita was wondering if anyone had an area rug that they were no longer using. Rita is also looking for a full size bed, some chairs for her dining room table OR a matching table/chair set. If you can help Rita out on her items she wanted, here is her contact: rgibsonrita@aol.com
