DOWNPOUR:  HE WILL COME TO US LIKE THE RAIN

(http://store.walkintheword.com/p-705-downpour-he-will-come-to-us-like-the-rain.aspx) {disclaimer:  The above web link MAY NOT reflect to the "t" Garner church's take on this study.  This link is "only" to give a person an idea of the basis of this study.}

Maybe you've known the Lord for a while but you've been on a spiritual plateau and you know that God could do more in your life. We've all been there. You sense that where you are is not where you're supposed to be and you wonder, "How did I get over here?" When was the last time you put yourself in position to soak up everything God has to give?  God has a fresh downpour of His mercy and favor ready for your life.  What's required of you…a turning to the Lord?  A returning to Him with all that you are?   Will you come?  The clouds of heaven are bursting with the grace that God wants to rain down on you.  Not a trickle, but a torrent - a deluge of Himself, an intense saturation that covers all your past.  Will you let God bring you to a point of decision?

Take hold of this unique opportunity for personal revival.  Make yourself wholly His.  Let nothing come between you and God's downpour.   "Downpour" is a message based on Hosea 6:1-3 that challenges us to reflect on:

Sin in the Mirror:  A Picture of Brokenness

Christ on the Cross:  A Picture of Grace

Self in the Dirt:  A Picture of Repentance

Spirit in Control:  A Picture of Power

God on the Throne:  A Picture of Holiness

Please join us for this 12 week study on Monday nights at 6:30 PM in the Fellowship Classroom (Room 211).  Some other things that folks will need to know about this study is that this will be a women's only study.  The cost of the books will be around $20. And books will not be there on the first night, but should come very quickly there after.  Please let Gayle Hines know you will attend so a book can be purchased for you.  Either contact her at 772-2383 or gfhines@bellsouth.netYou must sign up by Tuesday, September 2.

MISSION COLLECTIONS NOW ONGOING:

**Food of the Month:   Soup!!

**Still need about 20 cell phones to ship out for US military throughout the world.

NOT STARTING OUT REAL WELL……….For it to be the beginning of the church "kick off" season, we sure are not beginning real well.  Last Friday morning I came in and the back door (near the church office's was unlocked) and every light from there to Holy Java was burning.  The only thing that we did provide was a "You Are Here," map to all of the valueables at the church.  And on yesterday morning, came in and the back door, again was unlocked, thus exposing anyone who wanted to get into the building NO restraints what so ever to getting in.  Outside groups using our facility are going to be warned again about leaving doors unlocked and lights on (not so worried about lights on as we are doors unsecured).  But our first line of security begins with US.  If we are not willing to secure the facility and be our own first line of defense…………we are doomed.    STOP A GANG MEMBER!!!Sick of hearing of about gang this and gang that??  Sick of seeing on the news young people being killed by other young people??  Instead of hollering at the kids to get the heck of your grass, why don't you holler at them that Cub Scouting is doing recruiting at Garner church on 09, 11, 15 September at 7 PM each night.  Cub Scouts starts taking kids once they enter first grade.  Kids in your neighborhood too old for Cub Scouts??  Boy Scouts meets almost EVERY Monday night (except in summer months) at Garner church starting around 7 PM.  Sick of the problems facing young people??  Be a part of the solution…..introduce them to Scouting!!!!

THEY'RE THERE!!!!!!!!George and Sara Davis have written and as it pertains to their new place, they state they have "enough room to cuss a cat"……if they had a cat!!!  They wanted to thank everyone that helped make this move such a smooth one and REALLY expressed thanks to all of you who sent them a card and had them waiting on them when they arrived.  They just go on and on about how nice the place is and how eager everyone there is to please.  George and Sara were almost begging for anyone from the church that is down that way to stop in see them.  Their final words in their note stated: "We love all of you and you will always be in our hearts and our prayers."  Let's keep George and Sara in our thoughts and prayers as well……

COLLEGE AGE BIBLE STUDY TO BEGIN!!!

College Age Bible Study will resume beginning Sept 7th at 8 PM.

Kim Reeves will be leading our new study. First meeting will be at the home of Shannon & Patricia 517 Lakeside Dr. Garner. At this meeting we will look at meeting times and locations that will fit in with busy college & working schedules.   Thanks,

THE REFUGE WORKDAY PLANNED!!!!!

Saturday Sept 6th. There is more work to be done so we are off again to The Refuge. Work on the foot bridge (aka The Tim Memorial Highway) will continue, the farmhouse is ready to have flooring put down. A donation of vintage heartwood pine tongue & groove has been given, so if you have any experience with flooring you are needed. The kitchen floor is ready to take up and the bathroom floor may be ready for some work. The front pond boathouse needs siding finished up, the screen put up on the porch, and the railings put on the deck. As you can see from all of this lots of volunteers are needed! We will meet at the church at 6 AM load up and pull out by 6:15 AM. Bring a bag lunch to eat at the work site, we will have water and Sport Drinks. Work will finish up about 5 PM and we should be home by 7PM. Bring any tools you have for the jobs listed above, saws, hammers, wheelbarrows, work gloves. Long pants are strongly suggested for safety, and especially for the pond and footbridge because of the poison.  Sign up on the youth bulletin board.  Thanks, Patricia.

CROPPING GROUP SEEKING FORMATION:

Live life, take pictures, tell your story and repeat.  I am looking for scrapbookers or potential scrapbookers that would like to form a monthly crop group.  This would be for traditional scrapbooking or faithbooking which are similar to me as all of my experiences, successes and failures were by God's grace and according to his plan. I would make my tools available for use and other items such as paper, albums etc. for purchase at a 20% discount. A crop fee would be donated to a church mission determined by the group.  Snacks would be provided by everyone bringing a small snack to share, I will provide the beverages.  Please contact me if you are interested in forming a group, would like the new Creative Memories catalog, which has some unique additions or need scrapbooking supplies.  Thanks, Karel Standish
