TONIGHT!!! TONIGHT!! WOMEN!!!! TONIGHT!!!!
Remember our start-up "Fall Meal" will be this Tuesday evening, September 23. downstairs in the Fellowship Hall. We will hope to begin serving the meal just a few minutes after 6:00 p.m. so if you can plan to get there a bit early, it will help us. We will have our pot luck (and always delicious) meal, then Betty Ann Buckley will speak on life in the Holy Land. We will not have an actual meeting this evening, with the hope that we will be finished and everyone can get home before dark. Please plan to be with us - you will be GLAD that you supported the Garner United Methodist Women, thank you, Betty Jo Creed.

SPEAKING OF THE MOVERS AND SHAKERS
in the church, some of ya'll stated that you missed last weeks e-mail about the Women's Newsletter. You can always find this on the church's web page and here is the link:
THANKSSSS....
to all who brought snacks last week for SSSS (September Super Snack Sundays) for HOPE! One more weekend is included in the plan, so please bring nonperishable, individually wrapped SNACKS for HOPE Ministries for our Super Stash of Snacks to use on Saturdays in the coming months. Thanks so much!
IF THERE IS ONE MINISTRY
in this church that is really "doing" and "being" the hands and feet of Christ it is the HOPE ministry (homeless in Garner outreach). Each week this ministry is seeing more and more and more and more growth. Want to be a part of "where God is working" ministry??? Then all's you have to do is follow the lead of what Lee Ellen is talking about here: MORE SIDES for HOPE..........
Our Saturday afternoon outreach program for the homeless in our community continues to grow, meeting needs right here in Garner. Attendance has increased lately, to where we need more food available. If you would be willing to provide a side dish 4 times a year (once every 3 months), please send an email to HOPEmeals@yahoo.com Even if you would like to be a substitute and provide a dish occasionally, we welcome you, and need you to be a part of this ministry team! Questions, or to step up and volunteer, please email or call Lee Ellen at 662-0206. Thanks so much for helping provide HOPE. Thanks, Lee Ellen.

WITH SINCERE THANKS:
"We just wanted to thank everyone for the prayers, cards, food, and the calls after our recent accident. We are getting back to normal and Tim went back to work today (Friday). He has a dislocated ankle and is on crutches for a few weeks. The Lord was really watching over us and we feel blessed to come out of this so well. Thank you all." The Warrens
WANNA BE'S USHER/GREETERS,
remember that there will be a briefing AFTER the 11 AM worship on 28 September. You may also choose to attend this training immediately following the JOG service on
28 September. Ushers/Greeters are the first contacts that people have with Garner church, thus making these two groups some of the most important in the workings of the church. ***Side note: Had good turn out this past Sunday for both ushers and greeters, but still need more friendly, smiling, infectious(laugh, smile, not cold/flu/headache) people to step up and be a part. Now look, how much easier can this volunteer job be????? Don't wait to be asked to do this, cause you know Martha don't have NO shame in asking you.........Can you hear me now???????

"THIS" THURSDAY NIGHT
starts a new era in men's ministry here at Garner church!!!! Willing to change is one of the first signs of growth!! With the details, here is Bob Creed: Apparently it is difficult for some men, especially those with families, to make the Sunday 07:15 UMM meeting. It has been suggested that we have a mid-week meeting, in addition to our Sunday meeting, so that men who are unable to attend the Sunday meeting can participate in UMM fellowship and activities. Therefore, the Fellowship Hall has been reserved Thursday September 25, at 7:00 PM, for a general meeting of Garner United Methodist Men. See you there!!! Bob Creed.
NOW LET'S JUST SWING FOR THE FENCE!!!!!
The Music Department has announced their Christmas Cantata for this year and instead of just hoping for a base hit or double with some lesser musical composition, Brother Steve and the music department are SWINGING FOR THE FENCE!!!! This year's Christmas Cantata will be the one and only, "Messiah," by Handel. This great and famous piece of music was written in 1741 and was not actually performed for the first time until 1742 in Dublin, Ireland. So all you Christmas music loving folks, if you wanted to "see what ya got," rehersals begin on 01 October, 2008 at 7:30 PM. In addition to the rehersals starting then, Brother Steve has demo CD's now for EACH part in this timeless classic. So what's your excuse now??? If you want to "try your luck" and see if you can "bring it," to perform one of Christiandom's most sacred and well recognized classics.....get the demo CD from Steve and we will see you on
01 October........bring your own lemon juice and honey!!!!!!!
ONLY TWO WEEKS REMAIN
on your picking up your giving statement out in the gathering area. If any statements are left in this area after next week, they will be shredded. Can you hear me now???

COULD "THE SINFONIA" HAVE BEEN
Any better than they were on Sunday???? And on the heels of this great musical troupe, Brother Steve and his lieutenants have another group that is ready to give praises to God. THIS coming Sunday morning the children will be singing in 11 AM worship.
PARENTS: Only really need two things from you…..have your children in Sunday School (once in Sunday School someone from the music department will be coming down around 10 AM to escort the kids to the sanctuary to practice). THE OTHER THING that parents need to help with, is that sheet music was sent home with your child this week, so plan on working with your child on their music this week so folks will see AND hear the glory to God in these little one's voices!!!!!! WOW!!!! Looking forward to the children bringing forth unbridled praise this weekend!!!!!!!
SNACK ATTACK!!!!!
Remember that HOPE ministries is attempting a "Snack Attack Blitz," in that they are asking ALL of us to bombard the HOPE ministries with INDIVIDUALLY wrapped
snacks, (Pop-Tarts, square nabs, individually wrapped small packs of cookies, etc.).
In so doing, this will ensure that over the next few months HOPE ministries will have plenty of snacks to send out as "pack outs," to their participants. Numbers have really increased in this homeless ministry, so let's really bombard this group!!!!!!!
COOKING WITH GAS!!!!
WOW!!! Stand back!!! When you go to cut on the oven/stove top in the old kitchen...STAND BACK!!!! We read in the Book of Daniel that old King Nebuchadnezzar gets the firey furnace so hot that it consumes several of his own men before they can get out of the way.....Well, just call the downstairs oven/stove top: "Nebuchadnezzer's Furnance!!" I say all this to advise you that the stove/oven down stairs has now been transposed from Propane to Natural Gas. And boy will she cook up something now!!!!
Watch your things when cooking downstairs as your cooking time might be a tad shorter now!!!!
CHURCH BAY:
FREE!!!! A blue velvet love seat, gently used. Call Barbara Woolson. 779-5840.
NEEDED: Have received word that a family, not in our fellowship, was recently burned out of their home. In replacing things, they have gotten good response from the community, but are in need of a washing machine. Does anyone have a washing machine just lying around their place needing a good home???? Get in contact with me if you do and I will get you in contact with the folks. They have capabilities of even coming and getting this from you!!!!! Let me hear.
