ANOTHER THING THAT TAKES PLACE
tomorrow night is "Welcome Wednesday," in which visitors can come to the church for a no obligation, very informal "getting to know you," session with the pastors and other key staff members. It's just a time to come and ask questions about this fellowship, Methodism in general, why things are done in a certain way, etc. Know of a visitor to our fellowship that you need to invite??? Have you done so???? Why not???? Tomorrow night is the night!!!!!!!
THANKSSSS
Thanks so much to everyone who sent in snacks for HOPE during our September Super Snack Sundays collections. Additional snack items are always welcome, so feel free to bring more to the HOPE collection bins when the mood strikes you! If you'd like to participate in this growing ministry, please contact Lee Ellen at
HOPEMeals@yahoo.com to provide food, or Joe Koon for all the other MANY tasks needing volunteers. Thanks, Lee Ellen.

FALL COLORS ARE FALLING!
October is almost here with its many fall colors, including bright orange UNICEF Boxes! On Sunday 10/5, we'll distribute boxes to all families at Garner UMC for a month long collection to assist children around the world. Water purification tablets -- which are so important in parts of the world -- cost just pennies. A dollar immunizes against deadly diseases. Every little bit helps! Thanks, Lee Ellen.

STILL TRYING TO GARNER
folks that would be willing to be prayer partners and encouragers for teachers at Aversboro Elementary School. Here's Martha with all the details: Aversboro Elementary School has invited Garner UMC to partner with them through a program called "Hand in Hand". There will be several opportunities for us to share God's blessings with the students and teachers at the school. At this point we are looking for volunteers for 2 roles:1) Be a prayer partner for a staff member and send words of support and encouragement. 2) Serve as a mentor or as a SCOR reading volunteer with a student for 30-60 minutes each week. Please contact the church office and let Carlene or Martha know if you are interested in this outreach.

Bring your children's shoes and place them in the Haitian Children Collection bin by the elevators and these shoes will go out quickly to their destination.

THIS WEEK'S MEMORY VERSE
has been announced!! Sunday's memory verse for Little Apostles and Agape is: "The Lord your God is in midst. The mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness. He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing." Zephaniah 3:17. Parents, PLEASE help your child memorize this verse before Sunday. Thanks so much, Jeannie Ledford.
IS THERE ANY DATE BETWEEN NOW
and the end of the year that I can put flowers on the altar??? Funny you should ask this. The following dates are as open as Wake Forest's defensive line was on Saturday against Navy!!! Here goes:
**26 October
**09 November
**30 November (hint-hint...this is the FIRST Sunday in Advent)
**14 December
**28 December
If you see a date that is significant for you or you are just "led" to put flowers in on one of these dates, give Wanda a call. ALSO, while you are thinking about it.....What'a 'bout a date in year 2009?? Got an anniversary?? Someones birthday?? Someone you wanna remember??
Look at your calendar and if you see a date in 2009, go on and give Wanda a call NOW as opposed to when someone else has already taken the date you wanted
