UNICEF QUIZ ANSWER
Earlier this week the UNICEF QUIZ question was: What does UNICEF stand for? Congratulations if you knew that UNICEF stands for United Nations International Children's Education Fund. If you got it right, treat yourself and others -- put an extra dollar in your box and immunize 2 children against polio. If you didn't know, put in 2 dollars to immunize 4 kids! Remember, if you don't yet have a box, pick one up this Sunday. Then, during October, keep your box in a prominent location to easily add your spare change. For those of you with children, encourage them to contribute by giving them opportunities to do chores around the house to earn money for UNICEF. Thanks! Lee Ellen.

DEAD BUT NOT GONE.....
Just so you will know, we are not having a large influx of bug/pest infestation. However the quarterly pest control has been completed on the building this week. In addition to the regular pest control company coming, we also supplement this control, by hitting Sunday School rooms that the pest control does not get, this time of year we spray all threshold entrance/exits to contain bugs coming inside to escape the cooler days of fall/winter. For this reason, there has been more DEAD bugs lying around than we usually see. If you happen to see a varmint before someone in housekeeping can get them up, it's ok. Simply get a Kleenex OR get with housekeeping and we will get the bug up. Just trying to keep us bug free/germ free as possible. Thanks for cooperation in this matter.
THE COUNTDOWN HAS STARTED!!!
Have mercy no I am NOT talking about that election mess!!! I am talking about the count down to the Craft Fair has begun!!! And one of it's official start up "birthing pangs" is when an inflatable appears!!! And the inflatable HAS appeared!!! Feverishly the folks behind the scenes for the craft fair are making final "i" dotting and "t" crossing!!!! Go on and start getting your shopping list ready, for this year will feature some "never before" seen vendors and some of your favorites from years gone by!!!
So mark it down, etch it in your mind: 01 November, 2008 from 9 AM till 3 PM!!!
LOOKING BACK AND DREAMING FORWARD:
We invite EVERYONE to join us this Sunday evening in the CLC at 5:00 for a Covered Dish dinner and worship service led by our very own Praise Band and a message from former pastor George Johnson. Please bring your favorite dishes to share with family and friends in a time of fellowship and praise for all of God's work, His ministries being carried forth as we at GUMC make God's love real to those in our fellowship, those in our community, and those across God's earth. At the bottom of this e-mail (as an attachment), find our second devotion for this month of Stewardship. Thanks so much, Amy Gregory.

GREAT REPORT!!
On Wednesday morning a goodly group of men took the 4 hour trip to Kill Devil Hills to see George and Sara Davis. Their report back was a good one on these dear souls.
George/Sara's new place appears like a 5 star resort. Sara is "having to get used," to not having to wash clothes and clean......but reports are, she is "getting used" to this!!
George is now using his walker on almost an exclusive basis, which is a good thing.
They are settling in real nice in their new place and do enjoy it. One of the travelers that went to see George/Sara stated on his return: "George and Sara may be 4 hours away by car, but in our hearts, George and Sara are still right here..." Sums it up for many of us.
WITH SINCERE THANKS….
On behalf of the Hickman family, we appreciate all your prayers, food, visits and cards during this difficult time with the loss of my brother Danny. Sincerely, Nancy Cagle and family
(disclaimer: the below information is subject to change from the time it is sent out and actual Sunday morning worship begins. If the below is NOT exactly what you do this week in worship....don't blow a gasket.....Praise God anyway!!!)
