UNICEF QUIZ ANSWER

Earlier this week the UNICEF QUIZ question was; besides Education, name 2 other UNICEF areas of focus worldwide. Congratulations if you knew that UNICEF focuses effort on not only education, but Emergency relief, Clean water/sanitation, Immunizations/health care, Nutrition, HIV/AIDS.  If you got it right, treat yourself and others -- put an extra dollar in your box to pay for water purification tablets.  If you didn't know, put in 2.50 to buy a water filter for a family!  Water is precious. Thanks!

LOOKING BACK AND DREAMING FORWARD!!!

What a great time we had at the Covered Dish!  I'd like to thank all those who helped with the set up and clean up for the event.  We had some awesome food and plenty of it.  The Journey of Grace Praise Band was on fire with the Spirit.  And the message really walked us through how the Methodists came to be Methodists and how our dreams for the future of Garner UMC are dependent on how deep our faith is.  We should go far as I know our faith is deep.

So I ask for each of you to consider an act of faith.  With the economic and political times as they are, this is the time that I would say is the BEST time to step out on faith in God.  We know that faith in earthly things (man, money, jobs, etc.) is not where we want to place our faith.  We need to place our faith in God.  Stewardship should be our commitment.  We should be taking the best care and making the best use of all that God has put in our care.  Giving back to God is an act of worship.  We are making a sacrifice to God of the best that we have.  We will be asking you to make a commitment in the next couple of weeks to take that step, perform that act of worship, and continue to give God the first, the best.  Be in prayer as you consider this commitment.  Attached is the devotion for this week.  (Click the link at the bottom of this e-mail).  Hard copies will be available Sunday.  Thank you, Amy Gregory.
