IF YOU THINK "YOU" ARE
having a bad year….with the economy, job, stocks, etc., JUST think if you were a child in a 3rd or 4th or 5th world country!!!! I know that it has been TOUGH on many of us this year, but I hope that you will look around at The Dollar Store and see if you can't see your way clear of helping out on this Mission Team outreach:
The Missions Team is collecting gift-filled shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. Brochures are available outside the church office and boxes may be dropped off in the gathering area. All boxes are due on or before Sunday, November 23. Please contact Wendy Moore with any questions. Thanks! Wendy Moore.
ANOTHER STRONG PUSH…..
To ensure that folks have a good Thanksgiving/Christmas in our area, please read and be reminded of one way your church is trying to help: The featured foods for Garner Area Ministries for the month of November are canned potatoes, canned yams, and canned greens (collards, turnips, etc.). Please place your donations in the collection box beside the elevator. Thanks! Wendy Moore.
CALLING ON THE SOUP BRIGADE!!!!
Now that Ivonne has passed, and the crowds have died down, it is the perfect time to show the Grady family that we are still here for them. With the weather turning cool, it is time to make soups, stews, chili, and those types of comfort food. When you make a pot, divide out a quart and save it for the Gradys. I have 32 oz yogurt containers waiting for you at the Holy Java. The lids have a sticker on them for you to label your soup, stew, chili, or whatever with what it is and who it is from. Just freeze it and either give it directly to the Gradys or give it to me and I'll get it to them. I have plenty of freezer space, so if the Gradys get overwhelmed, I can store it until the supply goes down. It would be wonderful if we could have sufficient supply to see them through the winter, at a quart or two a week. With the holidays, seasonal affective disorder and the recent loss of a loved one, the comfort of a hot bowl of soup, made with love by a church family member, can help soothe a weary soul! Questions? Call me at 662-1568 or email me at slh@pobox.com Thanks, Stacie Hagwood
