Youth Missions

“and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in Judea, and in Samaria and unto the uttermost parts of the earth." Acts 1:8
 
Our youth are active in many areas of missions from visiting our local nursing homes to  supporting world missions.   Each summer our Senior High students take a week long mission trip.  We have traveled to the Appalachian Mountains and worked in rural Eastern North Carolina at The Refuge.   There are several weekend trips or projects during the year to help with home  repairs in our community and neighboring  communities. 

Currently the youth have committed to help with the building of The Refuge, a camp sponsored by Sonset Ministries in Eastern North Carolina.  The week is filled with work, worship, community building and a lot of fun.  Lives are already being transformed through this camp and in the lives of the youth and adults who have participated in this project.  To view photos of last year's trip to The Refuge, click here.

In 2012  our youth will travel to The Refuge on June 13-16 and will work on a variety of projects designed to improve the camp. Our goal for this trip is to raise $6000.  We will travel to the mountains June 24-30 to serve with the Appalachia Service Project.  Our goal for this trip is  raise $10000. 
 
We ask for your prayers as we work together, worship together, and grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ. . and we need your help. There are numerous fundraisers planned for our trip and monetary donations can be made to Garner UMC with The Refuge and /or Appalachia Service Project  included in the memo line.


During the year the youth are involved in community projects such as food scavenger hunts for Garner Area Ministries, building projects with Resources for Seniors, adopting a family at Christmas and supporting a child through World Vision.
 
All youth are invited to come out and join with us in these projects.
