Servant and Leadership Team (SALT)

The Servant and Leadership Team will be a team made up of students who are willing to go deeper in their faith development and step into the role of Christian leadership among their peers; living into the message of Matthew 5:13-16:

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Members of SALT are responsible for:

  • Demonstrating leadership at Youth and Church activities.
  • Committing to praying for each other, their peers, and the church.
  • Committing to contributing in SALT meetings.
  • Being prepared to help walk with SALT members deepening their faith.

We want you serving from “who you are.” God has created each of us with a specific design. This design consists of our personality type, spiritual gifts, our natural abilities, and our personal interests. In other words – our Lord has specifically wired each and every one of us as His beautiful and unique creations. Therefore, our youth leadership community must realize and engage with this reality.

Time Commitment

You will be expected to attend the weekly SALT meetings on Wednesdays at 7:30 PM. SALT team members will also be expected to contribute to the hospitality goals for our Youth Ministry, to participate in service opportunities, and to help plan & lead the church-wide Easter Egg Hunt & Gathering on Sunday, March 18.

Youth Development

Youth Leaders participating in SALT are expected to grow in many ways, including: Ability to have fun, Ability to engage the Bible, Ability to pray humbly, and in their Connection with the larger Family of Faith

The Youth Leadership Team is open to all youth who have a personal relationship with Jesus, desire to grow closer to Jesus and their fellow students and want to use their gifts in God’s Kingdom. A SALT member will be characterized by these three attributes.

  • Faithful to their personal relationship with Jesus. This means that we show our love for Christ through obedience. The inward reality of Christ in our lives is demonstrated through the outward flow of our actions, words, and commitments.
  • Available. This means that our relationship with Jesus is not just another item in our daily planners. The presence of Jesus in our lives is the template for our whole schedule – affecting every area an aspect of our lives.
  • Teachable. This means that we embrace the reality that God is at work in our lives 24/7. We all are “in process.” This means we must be open to listen to others, accept guidance and instruction, and eagerly seek out opportunities to grow.
