“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the
believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12
We are committed to being the hands and feet of Christ, drawing youth into fellowship and developing in them a closer personal relationship with Jesus Christ through worship, service, study, prayer and outreach. We welcome 6-12 grade students, from all walks of life to join us on the journey toward a deeper faith and stronger relationship with God and others!
We seek to make all our youth ministry gatherings fun and inviting; so youth will not only want to come, but will want to bring their friends as well. Garner United Methodist Church offers youth a wide range of classes and opportunities for spiritual growth and relationship development throughout the year, all planned and overseen by trained adult leaders and youth representatives. Whether the activity is a Bible study, a retreat at a camp, a mission work project, or a Sunday evening UMYF (United Methodist Youth Fellowship) night, the youth are constantly challenged to grow within the body of Christ.
ONGOING YOUTH ACTIVITIES:
GUMY Sunday School: Sundays 9:30-10:30am
Youth (6-12th Grade) gather together on Sunday mornings for prayer and study in the Youth Room
GUMYF (Garner United Methodist Youth Fellowship): Sundays 5-7pm
Youth gather for dinner and fellowship each week. GUMYF activities include service opportunities, worship experiences, fun outings, guest speakers, and more! Youth parents are asked to help with providing a meal each week and will often be called upon to help by driving or participating in various events!
GUMY Fellowship & Bible Study: Wednesday 6:00 – 7:30pm
Youth gather each Wednesday for a time of fellowship from 6:00-6:30pm and study from 6:30-7:30pm. Dinner is not provided, but many students bring something and eat together during the fellowship time. We typically spend a few weeks on a single study and have done many differnet types of studies, including: video based curriculum, guys/girls studies, MS/HS studies, and so on!
All youth activities are subject to schedule changes with other events being added constantly so be sure to check your email, church updates, and the calendar of events for up to the minute information.
